IIMUN:
After having participated in, led and judged over 80 conferences a young 18 year old boy had a
vision. A vision of a system wherein the youth are allowed to voice their ideas, opinions
suggestions and beliefs through a responsible and recognized medium. He searched all over for
the existence of such a system, but to no avail. Thus his relentless desire and undying passion
coupled with his enterprising and resourceful nature for the embodiment of such a system led to
the inception of the INDIAN INTERNATIONAL MODEL UNITED NATIONS.
As patent from last year’s Lok Sabha elections, there has never been greater zeal and
commitment amongst today’s youth to take active part in the social and geopolitical issues that
are rampant across the world today and thereby shape the country’s future.
Here, IIMUN creates this required system that acts as a pedestal to launch the interests of
today’s youth.
IIMUN, founded and presided over by Rishabh Shah, is an organization of the youth, by the youth
and for the youth. Managed and run by a bunch of students from the age group of 16-24 years,
the IIMUN Mumbai Conference went on to become India’s Largest Youth Conference in 2012,
Asia’s Largest Youth Conference in 2013 and World’s Largest Residential MUN Conference in
2014.
Today IIMUN’s massive repertoire of achievements boasts of:
a) IIMUN procedure accepted in 237 institutes b) Simulations of IIMUN in African International Model UN and Bangladesh International Model UN. c) IIMUN is Asia’s First MUNning procedure d) Affiliations with the University of Pennsylvania and IMT Nagpur to help them with organizing
their MUNs e) 30 chapters across all parts of India.

IIMUN: The Journey
2012: The India’s Largest Youth Conference
IIMUN 2012 began with a bang. Mr. Shiamak Dawar was the Curtain Raiser for the opening
ceremony. A mesmerizing contemporary dance performance by Mr. Dawar’s troupes followed
the curtain raising ceremony, where at the end of the performance the dancers organized
themselves into such a structure so as to form the IIMUN logo. The Chief Guests for our
ceremony was the celebrated Bollywood director Mr. Subhash Ghai & Mr. Prithviraj Chavvan.
Our third Chief Guest was Mr. Pradeep Udhas, who gave a liberating speech on youth
empowerment and international relations of India with foreign countries.
“I saw this young 12 year old
boy speaking with an amazing
amount of confidence and conviction in front of an audience of 40 to 50 18-year olds. The way he spoke reflected the kind of intricate research he had done. This spectacle left my mouth agape”, says Saisha Shrivastava chair of Interpol, IIMUN 2012.
IIMUN does comply with the aphorism “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. Testimony to this fact being the Delegate Ball that saw a cornucopia of gyrating hips, slow romantic dances and some swanky moves, and the Comedy Night where Vir Das’ humor and histrionics caused delegates to almost split their sides laughing.

that after his performance there was only one word on everyone’s lips-‘ ENCORE!!’

Mr. Aftab Shivdasani was a speaker on the second day of the conference. He inspired us

the conference. She spoke about time management, the lives of different greats like Aristotle, Socrates, and Einstein etc and about the NGO that she is heading.
“The thought of a bunch of 19- year-olds pulling off a conference of this stature is
indigestible. And they haven’t even graduated yet. Hats off to these young
entrepreneurs,” says Mrs. Sharonee Mullick, Head of Singapore International School.
