Indie music magazine contents page

The contents of the magazine are split up into different band sections making it easier for the reader to find what they are looking for.

The different pictures have page numbers alongside them for the readers comfort. This allows them to read the articles they want to about their favourite bands.

The “regulars” section allows the readers to look at what is always there in the magazine, this section enables the regular items not to get lost in the ever-changing band information section.

The contents page is clearly marked with the date, enabling readers to keep track of which magazine is the latest.

There are more mini images at the top alongside page numbers, allowing easy access for the reader. There is also an image of a drum set, highlighting the title of the contents page, “drummer”

The white background ensures that the reader does not get distracted while looking at the contents, it focuses their attention on the articles in the magazine.

The red colour theme is consistent in this contents page, the page number, the title, the boxes and even the drum set in the bottom right corner are the same red shade.

Like the previous contents page, the colour theme in this page also has red in it. Even though there is more black on the page, red is still the dominant colour due to where it has been places, e.g. the name of the magazine and the index.

The image of Astoria is a high angled shot, indicating that this building is well respected and has been host to many great events.

Due to the magnitude of this image and the text below it, its obvious the article on page 6 is the main one in the magazine.

In this contents page, the different articles in the magazine are gathered into sections, summarising the topics inside them. This makes navigation in the magazine a lot easier to do.

The subscription box is written in a contrasting colour scheme to the rest of the contents page, making it one of the first things the reader may see when looking into the magazine.

The arrow in the corner attracts the attention of the reader die to its colour, enticing them to turn the age over and read on.

The arrows next to the articles, again attract the readers attention and draw them into these particular sections.

Again, a white background is used so that the readers attention is focused on the images and articles, and not lost in the background itself.

The ‘oasis special’ section uses a gold font instead of the red font used by the rest of the page. This indicates that this section is very valuable and is ‘golden-ticket’ standard.

The name of the magazine is written more than once in the contents page. It is written in a small font yet it still draws attention to itself by the use of block red colours used, this familiarises the reader with the name of the magazine, encouraging them to read it again.

The image of ‘The Courteeners’ takes up over half of the contents page, this shows that they are the main focus of this issue. The quote underneath the photo shows the reader that they have done an interview with this magazine.

Unlike the backgrounds of the last two magazines, this one is a washed out blue-grey colour. This is still neutral enough that it wont overpower the reader, yet it still attracts the reader to the contents page.

Like the other two magazines, the eye-catching colour used in this contents page is red. This is good for attracting the attention of the reader and making certain items stand out more than others.
