and at last, you create whatyou will

    InnitusArticium.

    Innant art & creation

ag lineAn expirement o art to express a journey o

    emotions

A three minute video showing how three art orms can express theemotions

    JoyFear

    Hope

Tis project is an expiremental piece to show how ar the imaginationcan go whilst listening to music, Watching a gure in movement and

naly, how we peceive it through the power o art.

Tis short will be a mixture o 2D and 3D techniques and how theyexpress the gure in a gurative dance. We will be using the minds eyethrough the traditional 2D orm whilst incorporating the modern ad-

vances o 3D though the use o Motion Capture.

Te storyTe story is about a emales journey through her emotional struggle

interpreted through the use o music which is provided and personallyadapted to this animation by a student at Dartington Uni. Which will be

a beautiul blend o piano and string quartet.

Te womans emotions will be peromed by a dancer who again studies atDartington Uni.

In the beginning she perorms a joyul solo which will convey the emo-tion through intrecate movements and body expressions.

Until a dark shadow o a man (peromed by a male dancer rom Dart-

ington uni) brings ear into her, causing her to ee rom the shadowedman. Which only makes him stronger. Te dark matter eeds o her earcausing her all under his black and joyless existance

Te only way the woman can escape is to have hope. Hope helps herconquer the Fear and sadness inwhich she is grasped in. With this newemotion the emale battles with all she has lef. causing the shadow toall under her new light and ade away never to be seen. Te hope she

brings deeats any ear that may pass her by.

    2D

Te beginning will start with thetradional orm o animation. Tis willthen lead onto the ear were it will be

a battle between tradional andmodern orms.

With the inuence o lie drawing Iaim or the uid line work anddynamic

angles which convey the emotions othe characters.

With the examples rom my Liedrawing sessions the aim is not onlysucced in putting across the joyull

and earull emotion but the ability tohelp expand my knowledge andothers who are interested in this

project, and leave with a new insighto the tradional orms.

    Te 2Dechnique

Te sofware that we will be using orthe 2D section will be created on either

oonboom or vPaintBoth sofwares are similar in ways and

give a beautiul sence o organic and reeowing animations.

Tey are both easy to experiment withand can give the animator Enough ree

rein to enjoy the gures movements.Te gures will also be drawn in both

Free hand and rotoscoping as shown inthe image on the lef,

Te animations themselves will be organic and with a rough sketch eelto it.

Te use o line work and angles is the main priority. Te animation willbe ree owing as i the character is moving o the page and letting lie

ow through the rough outlines o the gure.

    3D

Hal way through thepiece the emale charac-

ter in her act o ear takes

the orm o an inky 3dcharacter. As i the lines

    that orm her are owingaway.

With the use o lie drawings it

shows experimention with ink.Tese help orm the idea o the

    gure as a 3D orm.

Were the colour escapesrom the black lines and

runs reely rom the body.As i all the joy isescaping leaving a

hollowed out shell o thebroken gure.

    Te 3D technique.

Although we dont have any images o the 3D models yet we do have theconcept work.

Te dancers will be lmed though motion capture and animated overthe top.

However the gures arent going to be ully ormed gures. Te outlines

o the emale will be bleeding ink and rough as displayed below. Whenever she moves quickly the smokey eect drif across the screen in atrail.

I she is still or slow the ink will linger and all down the body revealingthe curves o the emale character.

    Male3D.

For the male character he will becreated purelly in 3D.

Using the charcoal lie drawings asreerence the male character will give

o the dark, dangerous amdmonstarous eect o ear.

Using charcoal as the mainmedium or this character helps

dene its evil intensionTe use o shadow and lightinghelps dene the eatures and theenergy running through the dark

    gure.

Shadow and lighting helps denethe eatures and the energy running

    through the dark gure.

Charcoal looks and eels incrediblyharsh. specially i it has the sence o

movement, which would orm a darkeremotion in comparison to the ink

    gure o the emale.

He is the predator whilst sheis his prey.

    Te 3D technique

Te technique or the male character will be created in the same way asthe 3D emale charater.

Te particles on the male character willl be dusty and loose. Te bodyshape will be strong and electric.

When he moves a dusty trail will ollow behind with shards o charcoalalling rom his gure.

He will literially be a moving energetic shadow leaving his mark on eve-rything he does. A lot like the medium charcoal.
