MISSION GOD IS CALLING US TO

GOD IS CALLING US TO

Reach out to the world around us and share the everlasting love of Jesus Christ!

VISION

A Spirited (Acts 2), Growing (Matthew 28) and Christ–centered (John 13) community filled with hope!

CORE VALUES1. Jesus is life. The rest is details.

Jesus Christ alone is our hope, and the only real and lasting hope for the world (John 14:6). We love him. For this reason, we don’t apologize for the gospel or for putting our relationship with him first in our lives (Romans 1:16). We strive to respond faithfully to the call of Jesus to follow him above all else in this world, which so often competes for our time, energy and attention (Luke 14:15–24).

2. Lost people matter to God and

so they matter to us. Jesus was sent to reconcile a lost world to

God (Luke 15:1–32), and he calls us to do the same. We like unchurched people, and we know what a difference Jesus can make in their lives. For this reason, we seek to reach out to the world around us and share the everlasting love of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19–20, John 20:21, 1 Corinthians 9:19–27, Lutheran Church of Hope mission statement).

3. We worship God, not tradition.

Where tradition helps to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and further the mission of our church, we embrace it. Where tradition becomes a wall between God and his people, we seek to tear it down (John 2:13–22, Matthew 23:13–36, John 9:1–41). While the gospel message of Jesus Christ remains unchanged (Hebrew 13:8), the manner in which it is proclaimed must change for it to be communicated effectively in a changing world (Mark 2:21–22). In our worship and in our ministry, we intentionally offer a wide variety of options from traditional to contemporary and we remain open to new waves of innovation sent to the church by the Holy Spirit of God – all for the sake of Christian mission (Psalm 146–150, Acts 2:1–42)

4. Following Jesus is a growing experience.

We can’t outgrow Christian faith. As modern day disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to move from spiritual infancy to spiritual maturity (Philippians 3:13–14, Ephesians 4:12–14). For this reason, we strive to bring people into an ever–growing relationship with Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19). This growth best happens in small groups (Acts 2:42–47). As we grow in faith, we turn our hearts to God, giving of ourselves and our resources – freely and cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7).

5. We are one body, united in

Jesus Christ. We are a church of individuals, different in

many ways, yet called together by God to be one in ministry and mission. As members of the same body, we become more effective when we work in harmony as a unified whole (John 17:20–23). Among us, love for one another is the norm (John 13:34, Romans 13:8), conflicts are resolved according to the teaching of Jesus (Matthew 18:15–17), and we seek to build each other up (1 Thessalonians 5:11). We rejoice together, and we suffer together (1 Corinthians 12:25–27).

THANK YOU FOR PICKING UP THIS BOOKLET. Here you will find a brief introduction to Lutheran Church of Hope, a relatively “new” congregation that has been touched by God in ways we never imagined.

The story of Hope begins in the early ‘90s. While the past 20 years have been filled with great adventure and miraculous growth, I whole-heartedly believe the most exciting days for this church are ahead!

Perhaps this is the point where God begins to write you into the Hope story. Please know that we believe it’s no accident you are here – God has led you to Hope for a reason. We’ve been praying for you, asking God to bring whoever he wills into this Christ-centered, Spirit-led, Bible-based community.

If you are looking for a perfect church, you’ve come to the wrong place. Hope is far closer to a “hospital for sinners” than a “hang-out for saints.”

We are a not a country club, a chamber of commerce or a church that puts politics before Jesus. Our primary purpose is not to point people to this church – we exist to point people to the God of this church.

So take your time. Look around. Be our guest! And, just ask if you have any questions.

THE HOPE CIRCLEThe Hope Circle helps identify where you are on your journey of faith, and where the Bible tells us we can grow.

From Jesus’ perspective, there are three things growing Christians do: hear, accept and produce.

HEARING the Word creates faith.

ACCEPTING the Word means we will also trust in Jesus as Lord, not just Savior.

PRODUCING a harvest of extraordinary results is what Jesus lays out as the end result of Christian growth.

Jesus calls for the first to be last – the greatest among us is the chief servant.

SEEKER: You seek answers to the big questions of life, looking for meaning and purpose.

BELIEVER: You believe Jesus is your Savior. You have heard the Good News of God’s free gift of salvation through faith in Jesus, and you trust this grace is for you and all who believe.

FOLLOWER: You follow Jesus as your Lord. You accept him as your leader and moral guide, and trust his will. You welcome God into your daily life.

SERVANT LEADER: You are “all-in” with God and lead others to the light of God’s love as a fully committed servant of Jesus. You surrender daily to God’s will, looking for opportunities to love, serve and make Christ known in the world.

PRAYER [email protected]

It’s God’s desire that we "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Through prayer, God connects to us and then we connect to each other. The Prayer Ministry supports Hope’s mission to “reach out to the world around us and share the everlasting love of Jesus Christ” through various forms of prayer. In addition to the below opportunities, a weekly Prayer Bulletin is also available, consisting of prayers submitted by members of our Hope family.

Ongoing classes, events & prayer opportunities throughout the year:§ Weekend Prayer: Trained prayer partners are available after every weekend worship

service inside the Worship Center under the video screens to the left and right of the stage.

§ Thursday Night Prayer: Trained Prayer Partners are available to pray for you weekly in the Prayer Chapel. Come share your joys, sorrows, health concerns or anything else God is laying on your heart. Partners will pray for you in thanksgiving, grief or petition. You are free to come and go throughout the evening.

§ Let Prayer Change your Life: A step-by-step approach for creating or enhancing daily one-on one time with God. This course provides structure to daily devotions, prayers, sermon notes, Bible study and more so the time you spend with God is meaningful, inspiring and ultimately life-changing.

§ School for Listening Prayer: Many people experience prayer to be a one-way street, kind of like talking to a brick wall. But the Bible says prayer is dynamic a two-way conversation with God where lives are transformed. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll discover together the many ways God speaks to us and how to respond to what we hear.

CREATIVE ARTS [email protected]

Our Creative Arts Ministry offers Christ-centered experiences to express your faith and engage hearts and minds through the arts. Activities for all ages and ability levels encourage creative expression as a means to glorify God, strengthen faith in Christ Jesus and be led by the Holy Spirit.

Ongoing classes & events throughout the year:§ Art Workshops: A variety of workshops are offered for all ages and ability levels

throughout the year. These workshops are an opportunity to think about what God’s Word means to participants, and then provide them ways to visually express those thoughts and feelings.

§ Art Groups: A number of art groups (organized by specific art forms) meet throughout the year. These include, but are not limited to: Quilting, Knitting, Crocheting, Writing, Visual Artists, Scrapbooking, Color Book Page Designing and Card Making.

§ Art Gallery: Artwork is on display throughout the year in various parts of the building. Artists of all ages are encouraged to submit artwork for display!

§ Art Partnerships: Workshops are planned in partnership with all of Hope’s ministries throughout the year.

BIG EVENTSGod has blessed and used Hope in big ways. Part of Hope’s mission is “to reach out to the world around us.” In addition to opening our doors wide at Easter and Christmas, big summer events let Hope live that out and spread God’s blessings to the community.

Vacation Bible School: Each July, Hope offers two amazing weeks where children are invited to come and learn about God’s love through music, skits and crafts. Families can choose to attend the week that works best for them.

Taste of Hope: Hope’s annual summer festival with inflatable games, free food, a 5K run, fireworks and more!

ONLINE GIVINGWhat does the Bible really say about money? Actually, quite a bit, which is why we can’t ignore the subject. When it comes to giving, we try not to overcomplicate it. Why? Because it’s not complicated – it’s a matter of faith! God’s revelation and not human reason. If you consider Hope your church home, then please pray, listen and give according to what God lays on your heart.
