Were taking the family home out of inheritance tax with a new allowance so parents will be able to pass on up to 1 million to their children tax-free. Inheritance tax was only ever meant to be paid by the very rich. Yet more and more families are being dragged into it. This change supports aspiration, ensuring inheritance tax is only paid by the very rich, and allows the family home to be passed on tax-free. People will be able to downsize and keep their allowance.

Taking the family home out of inheritance tax was a promise we made to voters at the election and its a promise this Budget delivers.
