What’s good for the environment can be bad for your engine. Ethanol is an oxygenate that, when added to fuel, reduces emissions such as carbon monoxide. While that’s great news for the environment, it’s bad news for engines.

Ethanol attracts water. Over time, ethanol can bond to moisture, separate from fuel and drop to the bottom of a tank. This is called phase separation and is capable of causing significant problems in your engine. For starters, ethanol has the ability to force your engine to run on water, leading to possible engine failure. Ethanol can also boost the octane level of fuel by almost two points. If the ethanol separates, this can cause your fuel to fall below the recommended octane levels. This can cause hard starts, poor acceleration, and loss of power and performance.

THE ETHANOL DEFENSE TEAM NEW FORMULATIONS FOR HIGHERETHANOL-ENRICHED FUELS

Rising percentages of ethanol in fuel require engines to have even stronger corrosion protection. Together, Engine Med RX and Fuel Med RX fight fuel system corrosion, improve performance and extend the life of your engine.

Yamalube has used different American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM®) tests that simulate the harshest corrosion environments related to ethanol-enriched fuels and their potentially harmful effects on fuel system components.

Ethanol can wreak havoc on fuel system components. It contains sulfate salts that corrode fuel system metals, and its solvent properties can cause hoses and gaskets in engines to shrink or become brittle over time.

Steel rods submerged in an oil bath with a high dose of synthetic salts.

Silver and copper submersion in commercial-grade, ethanol-enriched fuel.

Silver and copper exposed to vapors of commercial-grade, ethanol-enriched fuel.

Ethanol acts as a solvent, loosening rust and debris. This happens not only in your fuel system, but also in gas station fuel distribution systems. To avoid pumping your gas tank full of filter-clogging, engine-bogging debris, purchase your gas at stations with high fuel turnover. The longer gas sits at a station, the greater the chance it has debris in it.

ENGINE MED RXSuperior Carbon Deposit Control

FUEL MED RXExclusive Fuel Stabilizer Formula

Engine Med RX proprietary synthetic formula provides superior carbon deposit control. It cleans injectors, carburetors, intake valves and ports, combustion chambers, and pistons and piston rings while protecting fuel system metals such as silver solder, copper, aluminum and steel from ethanol sulfate salt corrosion. Add it at every fill-up to avoid unnecessary engine repairs due to poor quality gas.

In today’s ethanol-enriched fuels, more ethanol means more sulfate salts, which results in more corrosion. Fuel Med RX’s proprietary, alcohol- free formula stabilizes all types of gasoline and provides superior metal corrosion protection from these high levels of ethanol sulfate salts. Add it at every fill-up to avoid unnecessary fuel system problems.ACC-ENGIN-RX-04

+ Minimizes carbon deposits that can otherwise build up in combustion chambers and on internal engine parts, resulting in poor performance and costly repairs

+ Provides a concentration of corrosion-fighting ingredients, even for E15 fuel for those vehicles that can use it

+ Easy-to-use, convenient, chambered 16 oz. bottle lets you measure the amount you need right in the bottle

TREATMENT + Continuous/in-season: Good practice is to treat the unused fuel no later than seven days after purchase; best practice is to treat fuel at time of purchase.

+ Storage/out-of-season: Treat fuel if it will sit more than 60 days in the unit’s fuel tank.
