IPDG Ric Houser News Hello Lions and Leos! It is hard to believe that my year as the OH6 DG is over. They say that time flies by and that is true for this past year. It seems like there were so many things that I wanted to accomplish when I started this year but as they say, things can change in a minute. COVID did us no favors in helping us accomplish some of our ideas, but it did help us become more creative to get things done. I believe that there will be things that began during this past year that will continue and will make us stronger as we move forward as Lions. Zoom or other types of electronic video communication has become a favorite and will continue to allow us the ability to conduct on-line meetings and provide the ability to some of our members to attend meetings when they cannot be there in person. Many clubs came up with new and innovative ideas to serve and fundraise. I am sure many will continue such as drive through dinners, note writing to those who are not able to get out, etc. While we did not end the year at a plus in membership, we did have two of our Lioness clubs convert to Lions which brought in 40 members. These Lioness members have many years of experience and will bring a wealth of knowledge and ideas to their new clubs. Currently, our district is at -39 in members for the year. We have added 151 new members this year but dropped 190 members. We need to add new members, but it is just as important that we retain our old members. Our MyLion reporting is at 49% for the district and I hope that this can continue to improve as it is important that we promote and identify to LCI what we are doing. I am confident that our Lions will be out there working to rebuild their clubs this year. Remember, that more members mean we can do more to serve those in need and they help us raise funds for our donations. We also welcomed the Paint Valley Lions as a new club with 32 members and they are busy serving. Our training program was “top notch” and PDG Sherry is continuing to put together training for our lions this year. If you have not attended a session, please attend them. They are beneficial and provide great ways to improve us as lions. We have been recording the training sessions and you can even go and listen to them on-line at our OH6 district web page. My theme and motto for the year was “Wind Beneath My Wings” which means that the lions, lioness and leos were the people who would be there to lead us, be serving, be fundraising and doing what is required to make our district what it is. No one person can do everything, and it has been you, the lions, making things happen. Thank you! Thank you! Thank You for being the “Wind Beneath My Wings”. I love this district! DG Chase will be a fantastic DG and we have a superb leader for our district. Please continue your wonderful support of our district and him. He is there for you and our district. Let us keep growing and moving forward. This district is the best and I am proud to be part of it! Great things are going to happen in OH6 in 2021-2022. Keep in touch with each other. We need our members to step up and be strong Lions. Communicate, communicate, communicate. Thank you for all you do each day! It makes a difference, and it is noticed. Let me know when you are having activities so I can come when my schedule permits. Yes, I am still here to help you in any way I can. My email is: [email protected] and my phone number is (937) 520-1936. I am here to serve you! In Lionism, IPDG Ric

Leo Corner

• Advisors, please ensure that your Lions Club President, Secretary, or Club Admin has added you as the Leo Advisor for the 2021-22 year, otherwise, you will not have access inside MyLCI for your Leo Club.

• Make sure you have updated your rosters and have added your Leo officers for the 2021-22 fiscal year. It is highly recommended that you drop off your seniors that have graduated no later than June 30th as this will not affect your current year. Hold your club elections in the April/May timeframe so that you may be able to add them before the July 1st fiscal year hits.

• OH6 District Leo Chair Robert Borger would love to come talk to your club as a guest, please reach out to him at 937-856-6945 or at [email protected]. He is also available to help you and your club with anything you may need including recruiting help, fundraising, and service activity ideas.

• There is hope that the State Youth Committee will be able to put together a State Leo Convention for this year approximately around February 2022. We hope to see many OH6 Leo’s there this year!

• There have been ongoing State Youth Committee meetings throughout the summer for anyone to attend. It is highly recommended you join our Zoom meetings if you have a desire to learn about Leo Club in general or have any questions about anything. We posted the previous 2hr session on the Facebook Ohio Lions Youth page which was chalk-full of everything to know about Leo Club.

• Leo Club Excellence Award nomination is due by August 15th to the District Leo Chair and IPDG: https://www.lionsclubs.org/en/resources-for-members/resource-center/leo-awards-and-recognitions
