Inspire. Innovate. Accelerate.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,Welcome to the 2018 Vermont Oxford Network Annual Quality Congress, a time for deep discussion of pressing challenges and exciting developments for our community of practice, and a time to reflect on the enormous impact we have had in the neonatology community and in the lives of countless infants and families.

The state of our Network is strong! At this Congress, you will hear remarkable stories of improvement documented in over 300 abstracts submitted by care teams from around the world. Importantly, families play a key role as faculty and as equal members of improvement teams, infusing our discussions with their experience and insights.

Unfortunately, the State of our Union is marred by divisions and an assault on the most defenseless among us. Our commitment to “Follow Through” recognizes that social determinants of health are as important in affecting outcomes as our medical interventions. As a community committed to caring for a medically and socially vulnerable population, I urge you to take inspiration from the dedication and accomplishments on display here and to follow through when you return home by speaking out and advocating for the vulnerable patients and families we are privileged to serve.

Sincerely,Jeffrey

Jeffrey D. Horbar MD Chief Executive and Scientific Officer

Track 2: Intermediate QI Skills

This advanced learning track dives deeper into understanding variation, measurement, and data. Participants will practice building and using run charts and statistical process control charts. This track is ideal for participants who have completed the VON / IHI Foundations in Improvement course and other health care professionals who have had prior QI training. Come prepared with QI data and a laptop.

Track 1: Foundational QI Skills

This track is ideal for fellows who are planning their capstone project and early career neonatologists who are interested in integrating robust quality improvement methods at their center. Other professionals, particularly newly forming interdisciplinary quality improvement teams, also attend and will enrich the learning environment and dialogue.

Jump Starting Quality 4.0 Strategies to Launch a Successful Quality Improvement Project

In this hands-on workshop, participants will do real work on a newly proposed or ongoing QI project. The educational design is a “flipped classroom” and pre-work is required. This workshop is at capacity for 2018.
