Optimal NICU DesignResearch shows the impact the physical environment has on developing newborns and their families. This information led to the development of design standards for the NICU as published in the Journal of Perinatology. Nexxspan designed Matrixx-M™. to meet each of these standards.

Ergonomically FriendlyThe Matrixx-M™ allows the staff to position devices and essential services where needed for the newborn. The two column vertical headwall also provides a separation of functions between nursing and the family.

Lighting ControlTwo levels of fully dimmable, ambient lighting are integrated within the unit. The “up” and a “down” lights can be switched from either the unit, or a remote location.

Equipment Management OptionsThe Matrixx-M™ has a wide range of equipment management capabilities. The 38 mm pole can be used to mount monitors and infusion pumps while the Nexxspan™ Equipment Rail system is ideal for clinical tools such as baskets, clips and various hangers.

Integrated Sound ControlThe Nexxspan Matrixx-M™ was purposefully designed to deflect sound away from the center line of the patient care area. The linear travel of sound waves is broken up through the use of technologically advanced materials and the shape of the Matrixx-M™. This unique design softens the environmental noise, which differs from flat panel systems which only bounce sound back to the patient.

VersatilityThe Matrixx-M™ is available in a left hand or right hand configuration. Each department can select the configuration which best meets their needs.

Equipment rail and accessories further enhance the ability of staff to create a personalized, clutter free environment for the clinical and family environment.

Clean Look, Infection Control FriendlyThe Matrixx-M™ was developed to minimize the risk of infection. The unique design includes smooth, seamless lines, rear mounted service positions and new gas outlet covers to virtually elimate screw holes. Cleaning and disinfecting are simple and the risk of infection spreading germs getting caught in hard to clean spots is reduced.

Prepared for the Future In wall rough-ins provide easy single point service connections as well as future expansion capabilities. Headwalls can be added without additional gas certification or construction costs, as essential services are added via hose connections and simple conduit. All certifications take place at the time of initial construction. Individual outlets on the headwall are also easily serviced or even replaced without shutting zone valves off.
