Andrew Kucey and Jennifer Overweel had traveled in the same social circles for years, but didn’t start dating until they connected at the wedding of a mutual friend. They were engaged four years later while on the first leg of a trip through Scandinavia and Russia—a holiday that was booked on a whim. The self-admitted foodies had just enjoyed a dinner at Mathias Dahlgren (widely regarded as one of the world’s top restaurants), when on the way back to their hotel, Andrew proposed to Jennifer with an engagement ring that he had personally designed.

Guests were seated at long, harvest dining tables from Chair-man Mills topped with custom table runners and napkins from Luxe-Linen. The table runners featured lime green ribbon edging to echo the design of the invitation.

The reception took place at The Toronto Golf Club where a giant outdoor tent from Advanced Tent Rental draped in all-white fabric from Micki’s housed the celebration. D Mac Classical Quartet greeted guests as they entered the venue. Frank Rea was given free reign to transform the space into a chic oasis with only one request from the bride—no hydrangea!

Tables were topped with tall, potted trees along with candles and loose floral arrangements in white vases. White Pierre chairs from Contemporary Furniture Rentals Inc. added to the classic, vintage feel of the black-tie event. The extra thought and attention put forth by designer Frank Rea really stood out to Jennifer. “Both of our families have been working closely with Frank over the past three decades,” she explains. “We loved the extra effort he put into sourcing vintage French chandeliers, which he then painted himself to bring all the decor together.”

e n d n o t e s Continuing with the foodie-theme, guests also enjoyed a succulent after-dinner selection of cheeses. Afrim Pristine from the Cheese Boutique assisted Jennifer and Andrew with hand-picking their favourite cheeses from around the world. The selection was beautifully presented on Muskoka-style platters.

Guests danced the night away to the live band Lady Kane.

Andrew and Jennifer both agree it was the best day of their lives. “It was amazing to see all our close

friends and family gather to celebrate our union. It’s such a great feeling when guests tell us what an amazing time they had and how it was the classiest wedding they’ve ever attended,” says Jennifer.

The couple spent their honeymoon travelling throughout Europe. Wedding planner Melissa Haggerty tells us that Andrew planned the holiday, and Jennifer packed her bag and brought her fork!

Chef Scott Riess and the catering staff of The Toronto Golf Club created a wonderful wedding menu that included a chilled lobster salad which left guests raving for months! Another highlight was the champagne sorbet garnished with herbs (lemon verbena and mint) procured fresh from the Club’s own garden!. for the COMPLETE
