Thank you for your interest in the ITAC Talent Inspiring Tech Careers events.

Since 2007, ITAC Talent has worked with visionary business leaders, the

public sector and educators to develop and implement a talent strategy

designed to motivate young people to select today’s in demand technology

related careers and improve the availability and quality of post-secondary

technology related education.

In this information kit, we have included details about the BTM TalentMash

and the CareerMash events including an outline of our marketing strategy

as well as an overview of sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities. We

hope you will consider participation in one or both of these exciting

opportunities!

The BTM TalentMash is designed to connect employers with Business

Technology Management (BTM). Last year’s event was another great success

with over 300 students and over 60 employer representatives. We are

continuing to build on this success and look forward to your support.

Inspiring Tech Careers

With emerging tech careers exploding in the labour market and predictions

of many more yet to come, Canada needs talent to fill these up-and-coming

careers to compete in the global economy.

ITAC Talent is hosting two Toronto events that bring industry, educators and

students together to learn about new and up-and-coming tech careers that

are changing the way we live and work. These events will inform hundreds

of Ontario students about evolving careers and education opportunities.

BTM TALENTMASH

Digital Disruption: Innovate for Competitive Advantage

Over 300 BTM students from 7 universities

The BTM TalentMash is designed to connect employers with Business

Technology Management (BTM) students and recent graduates, spread

awareness about the BTM program, and create a forum for students to

network and have an opportunity for professional development.

Offered since 2013, BTM TalentMash has become the must-attend event

for employers looking for the next generation of talent. Last year’s event

was another great success with over 300 students and over 60 employer

representatives who were speakers, sponsors, and or exhibitors. We are

BTM students have:

CAREERMASH

Inspiring Our Next Generation of Tech Leaders

November 14, 2016

The Living Arts Centre

Over 1,000 grade 9-12 high school students

ITAC Talent created the CareerMash initiative in 2007. CareerMash spreads

the word about the endless possibilities of today’s tech careers. Our goal

is to get students excited about how technologies are bringing innovation

to everything – environment, health care, entertainment, shopping,

mobility, our social lives and more. CareerMash demystifies technology by

helping students, teachers, guidance counsellors, parents understand all

the different ways the world is being changed by technology and the new

career opportunities these changes are creating.

The CareerMash event is designed as a platform to provide exciting

experiences and motivate high school students to pursue tech related

careers. Run for the third year, we anticipate attendance at this year’s

CareerMash to exceed 1000 students representing high schools across

Toronto and the GTA.

We have assembled an excellent program which includes: Key Note

Speakers, Panel Discussions, and a Career Tech Fair of corporate and

post-secondary institution exhibitors which will result in an exciting and

rewarding event.

Communications Plan

We will employ a multi-pronged approach to generate student registrations

for each event. For BTM TalentMash our campaign will focus heavily on social

media and email. We are also actively working with BTM schools and utilizing

campus communication channels and public relations directed towards

students. For CareerMash we are working directly with over 25 high school

principals and teachers across Toronto and the GTA.

Marketing Plan

• Online advertising will include a website for BTM TalentMash

(www.btmtalentmash.ca) and CareerMash (http://itactalent.ca/

events/careermash) which will include: the event information, click-

through links and possibly ads

• Email advertising will be a large component of our efforts to reach and

engage students. Working together with universities and secondary

schools, we will promote the event to their students

• Utilize social media channels to engage with students

Competition Descriptions

The BTM TalentMash Competition allows students to tackle

real world challenges thereby developing skills across

several disciplines including: research, collaboration, project

management, leadership. Individuals will be assessed on their

ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, flexibility

in their thinking, problem solving, innovation, enthusiasm

and ability to pitch their idea effectively. Competition entries

are judged by a panel prior to the event utilizing on line

technology. A monetary prize for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will

be awarded at the November 5 BTM TalentMash event.
