Opening The Installation Ceremony of the office bearers, IIA Cochin Center for year 2013-2014 was held at IMA hall, Kaloor, Kochi. The meeting was called to order by Ar. L.Gopakumar around 7.30 pm.

Agenda The Agenda for the meeting was installing the IIA Office bearers 2013-‐2014 and project announcement for the year 2013-‐2014.

Open Issues The meeting started with a silent prayer followed by welcome address by Ar. Mathew Joseph. This was followed by presidential address by Ar. L. Gopakumar. A special recognition award was given to S. Gopakumar for the support he had give for IIA Cochin center during year 2010-12. Ar. L. Gopakumar gave memento to Ar. Vipin S.R, Ar. Binu Vasu, Ar. Sebastine Jose, Ar.Kurien, Ar. Sneha Mary Thomas, Ar. John Kuruvilla,

Ar.Salil Kumar & Ar. Binoy P.S for their unstinted effort and dedication to IIA. Ar. Binu Vasu gave secretary report detailing the event and programs conducted during the previous two years. Ar. Thompson K.P (past-chairman IIA, Cochin Chapter) had the honor of introducing the chairman Elect Ar. C. Najeeb. Ar. L. Gopakumar in the presence of architects of IIA Cochin Chapter and other dignitaries installed Ar. C. Najeeb as chairman IIA Cochin Chapter. Ar. C. Najeeb installing Ar. L. Gopakumar as Immediate Past. Chairman. He then installed the rest of team as listed below

Anuj Gopakumar introduced our Honorable guest Shri Tony Chammany (Mayor Cochin Corporation) and Shri Sheik Pareeth (Ernakulum District collector). Shri Sheik Pareeth opened the guest speech; he reminded architects to use their visionary instincts and urged to actively participate in public projects. The Hon. Mayor of Cochin Corporation, mentioned how architects were involved in preparing the last budget, he also urged the need architects to actively participate in public project undertake by the Cochin corporation. K.J. Sohan (Councellor cochin corporation) expressed his confidence in the strength of the design in uplifting the living condition of the poor and needy, constant endeavor and perseverance are the key essential that architects should posses to achieve this goal.

Ar. L. Gopakumar gave a memento to Ar. C. Najeeb his effort and dedication to IIA Cochin Center; this was followed by the acceptance speech by the chairman. Ar. C. Najeeb the chairman expressed that IIA Cochin Center shall take “Thought Leadership” initiative in an effort to contribute to the sustainable progress, development of the

society we live. The IIA center shall be reaching out to the public at large with the formula A+A+A+ = Aware Aspire Articulate.

This was followed by the project announcement for the year 2013-2014 Ar. Pramod Kumar (Hon. (Secretary of IIA Kerala Chapter) did the honor of distributing the first Magnetic Strip Card for the IIA cochin center to Ar.Lalichan Zacharia (Past IIA national council member). This card will help the center to make the registration process easier, and will act as a library card for the individual members. Ar. Promod Kumar (Secretary of IIA Kerala Chapter), Ar. Lalichan Zacharias (Past IIA national council member), Ar. Sajan Pulimood (Chairman IIID Cochin chapter) gave felicitation speech during the eve Ar. Kochuthommen Mathew gave vote of thanks and mentioned that the goal, the duty, the purpose of the IIA cochin center is to build the community and the nation by creating a movement, a spark in the society. The event was followed by dinner and fellowship

Agenda for the year will be broadly through !  Seminars & Conferences !  B2B and B2C Tradeshows !  Awareness about Architecture through TV Series !  Work on the theme “Aware+ Aspire+ Articulate” in all our activities

Seminars & Conferences !  About 6 Seminars & Conferences will be organized in the

year 2013 with an aim to gain knowledge and spread information

!  3 will be organized coinciding with the tradeshows !  3 will be organized intermittently !  Topical themes will be addressed by best of the minds

!  Scholarships to be instituted to award meritorious students in Architecture.

!  Design competition on any projects taken up by IIA in the public sphere.

!  Awards can be instituted to recognize senior architect for his services

!  Organization which is leading by example in the area of sustainable habitat

!  Companies and individuals who are developing products or processes which make a difference.

!  On each of the activities we have the opportunity to interact and articulate our views to the media.

!  We can involve and take inputs from fellow architects, professionals, policy makers and various departments for the common cause

!  Increase awareness to the common public on the general dos and don’t through all our activities by using them as a platform of public engagement and SPARK A MOVEMENT!
