After the metal bed frame is assembled, if a headboard is going to be connected to the Afloat metal bed frame it should be done before proceeding .

NOTE: Make sure your bed positioning is final before continuing the set up process . The bed will not move once water is added to the mattress .

Run the temperature sensor up through the deck hole and position on deck at least 10” from heater pad .

Affix the temperature control unit to the side of the foundation .

DO NOT PLUG IT IN TO WALL.

INSTALL FOAM RAILS:

Place foam rails, paying close attention to the labels on the header, footer, and side rails . Place over alignment bolts .

INSTALL VINYL LINER:

Stretch the vinyl liner over the foam rails paying special attention to the orientation of the liner with the label “Foot End” at the bottom .

Ensure there are no wrinkles in the liner above or near the heater and that the heater pad has not shifted and is still lying flat . A heater folded on itself or wrinkles in the liner above the heater may cause heater failure .

PLACE WATER MATTRESS:

Place the water mattress equidistant from all sides with the valve at the foot of the bed .

Make sure the corners of the mattress are aligned with the corners of the liner .

If the vacuum in the mattress is preventing this, add a slight amount of air through the valve to allow you to align the corners .

DUAL KING: Place both mattresses side-by-side with both valves at the foot of the bed, and aligned at the center .

Place the thermal divider after placing the mattresses . The vinyl flaps of the divider must be below the water mattresses .

FILLING YOUR WATERBED:

BEFORE YOU ADD ANY WATER, AGAIN CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE BED IS POSITIONED EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT IT. Once you start filling the water mattress you will not be able to change the position .

Attach female end of hose to an outdoor spigot or a bathroom faucet, using the faucet adaptor .

Thread the valve adaptor, fill meter, and the shutoff valve to the other end of the hose accordingly .

The fill meter will help insure that your mattress get the proper amount of water .

NOTE: Do not use cold water . Using lukewarm water instead will drastically reduce the time needed for your bed to reach your desired temperature . Do not use hot water either, as this could damage your fill meter and/or your mattress .

Unscrew the valve cover and remove the safety cap, and quickly thread the valve adaptor to the mattress valve . Do this as quickly as possible to prevent air from getting in the mattress .

Turn on your water source then open the shutoff valve to start filling your waterbed .

QUEEN AND STANDARD KING

When your water mattress is approximately halfway filled, close the shutoff valve, unthread the adaptor from the mattress valve, and pour the entire bottle of water conditioner into the mattress valve .

NOTE: be sure to follow the fill guide provided in the care kit .

Once conditioner is added, continue filling the mattress .

NOTE: A good fill on your waterbed is approximately 1⁄2” to 3⁄4” below the top of the foam rails . There will be wrinkles at the top of your mattress . This allows the mattress to conform to the shape of your body .

DO NOT OVERFILL. It is easier to add water than to remove it . When the mattress is full, it is safe to plug your temperature control into a wall receptacle .

DUAL KING 1 . 35 gallons to left side . 2 . 35 gallons to right side . 3 . Align thermal divider between mattresses . 4 . 35 more gallons to the left side 5 . 35 more gallons to the right side .

Fill one of the mattresses halfway then close the shutoff valve, unthread the adaptor from the mattress valve, and add half of the water conditioner .

NOTE: Be sure to follow the fill guide provided on the previous page .

Quickly seal the mattress valve and start filling the other mattress to approximately halfway then add the rest of the water conditioner

Continue filling the waterbed . Switch filling between the two mattresses to ensure an even fill .

A good fill on your waterbed is approximately 1⁄2” to 3⁄4” below the top of the foam rails . There will be wrinkles at the top of your mattress . This allows the mattress to conform to the shape of your body .

DO NOT OVERFILL. It is easier to add water than to remove it . When both mattresses are full, it is safe to plug your temperature controls into a wall outlet .

Thread the air extractor to the valve . Slowly pull the other end of the air extractor . Continue until all the air is removed from the mattress . If you pull water, stop .

“BURPING” YOUR WATERBED:

Pull up on the valve and lay on the other side of the mattress . This pushes any air out of the mattress . If any air bubbles remain, use your forearms to slowly push them towards the valve .

Attach the hose to the side of the Venturi pump .

Thread the valve adaptor with the shutoff valve to the other end of the hose .

Insert valve adaptor into mattress valve .

Alternative Method: You may use an electric siphon pump instead of the plastic, water-driven pump provided in your Care Kit . If you use this method, follow the pump manufacturer’s instructions .

In general, the shorter and more rigid the hose from the pump to mattress, the less likely the hose will collapse from too much suction .

Open shutoff valve and start running water INTO THE MATTRESS to purge the hose of air . Turn the Venturi pump to “drain,” while leaving the water running . This creates a siphon and drains your waterbed .

Continue running water until your waterbed is completely drained .

TIP: Place a weighted object on the valve to ensure adaptor is below water .

24

MOVING YOUR WATERBED:

After you have drained your waterbed, roll up the mattress .

Place the mattress in the carrying sling .

Finally, reverse the steps from the instruction manual to break down the rest of the bed .

In the carrying sling, 2-4 people can carry the mattress, as it will be heavy .
