progress and will be ready to make its debut in the summer of 2013. General Manger Jeff Martin and I sat down recently and discussed new construction developments. The structure is moving along so fast it is hard to keep up and the excitement is really starting to build as we get closer and closer to opening.

Meanwhile, outside Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino, the Simon Premium Outlets are nearing their own opening date. Construction is underway on a walking path that will connect the new shopping experience to Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino. Simon has officially announced Saks 5th Avenue’s Off 5th which will be located in the shopping center and promises to announce more store names as the opening day approaches.

This year has been full of exciting projects which have made the time go by in the blink of an eye. None of these would be possible without your continued hard work and I would like to thank you. I hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween. May you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with memories of a lifetime.

Sincerely,John J. James

Team Members,This year is flying by. Before we know it, it will be Christmas and then we will all be busy making final preparations for the New Year’s Eve parties at all three of our casinos. With all the new projects that are going on in and around Gila River Casinos it is no wonder the time has gone by so fast.

Vee Quiva Casino & Hotel is making quick

MESSAGE FROM THE CEO JOHN J. JAMES

Starting in November donation boxes will be placed in Vee Quiva, Lone Butte

and Wild Horse Pass Team Member dining rooms. Three boxes will be

placed at each location. One box will be for food donations to St. Vincent de

Paul, one box will be for jackets that will also benefit St. Vincent de Paul.

The final box will be for new and unwrapped toys and will benefit children of the Gila River Indian Community. Donations will be accepted until December 18th.

Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino and Vee Quiva Casino will hold health fairs this November as part of GRGE’s “Working on a Healthy Team” campaign. The health fairs are a great opportunity to speak to vendors and learn more about the options provided by your Gila River health care plan. Free flu shots will also be offered on site at each of the health fairs.

COMMuNITY CORNER

C u S T O M E R

This month Gila River Casinos would like to hear from you. November 12th – 19th the TeamWorks intranet site will host an online survey to determine how Team Members feel about the work environment and culture here at Gila River Casinos. The data gathered will be used to improve the workplace and is very important for providing the best workplace possible. The online survey is fast and easy, your responses are completely confidential.

Q: “Why should I deliver exceptional experiences all the time?”

A: Sure, it’s great for our guests. And, it’s great for the casino. But what’s in it for you, right? Lots. By simply smiling and looking for opportunities to help, you’ll typically get back what you give. It’s the “Rule of Cause & Effect,” meaning that the people you encounter will be friendlier, the shift will go by much faster and you’ll enjoy your experience here even more. So, guest service is actually for YOU... not to mention things like promotion, better tips, helping the Community and much more.

Q: “What if I just had a fight with my significant other, or if it’s five minutes after my shift is over, and I don’t feel like it?”

A: We ALL have baggage to carry from money to relationships, car trouble to tax time, and everything in-between. However, we’re in the entertainment business and guests make a conscious choice about their disposable income. In short, if you had $40 to spend on having a good time this month, would you go to the place with the fun, friendly staff or the other place with the grumpy ones? Easy decision. So be sure to always leave negative baggage at the back door. Guests don’t want to see it and shouldn’t be expected to carry it for you, regardless of the circumstances.

Q: “I feel like there’s no support in my department and my boss makes it really hard to give great service. What do I do?”

A: The worst thing to do is to get negative too and start spreading venom through your department. Peers tend to emulate what they see... so if you’re holding yourself accountable and doing all you can (even if the person above you isn’t), you’re leading by example. And then, simply encourage others to do the same by focusing more on what CAN be done instead. If so, your department will magically change over time. Guaranteed.
