SCHÄFER IS-1 complete cabinets specially designed for data centre operatorsThe cabinets are divided into up to 3 compartments by solid partition

plates covering the entire internal surface area. Cable entry into the

separate compartments goes through separate cable ducts. Each cable

duct has an additional divider to separate power supply and data cables.

Unauthorised access is effectively prevented and a cabinet can be

rented to a number of users. This allows optimal utilization of available

data centre space.

The IS-1 colocation racks are fitted with a lateral airflow routing panel

for use in enclosures.

Standard cable management

Structured cable management at both room and rack level is an

essential component for the smooth operation of a data centre,

company or building network. Even basic cable management, i.e.

the orderly routing of cables through the individual server and

network cabinets, ensures the reliability and performance of the

entire system. For this SCHÄFER IT-Systems offers a broad portfolio

of standardized accessories, most of which are manufacturer-inde-

pendent and so can be used in all conventional cabinet systems.

Using cable trays, cable routing brackets, C-profile rails and jumper

panels for the orderly routing and interception of cables in the

cabinet can, for example, guarantee accessibility for maintenance or

in the event of faults. Another important point is optimum air flow,

depending on the ventilation concept used. Targeted cable manage-

ment keeps the free cross-sections free for the required air flow and

IS-1 In-rack cable management system

As a supplement to the manufacturer-independent standard cable

management components installed into server and network racks,

such as cable routing brackets and routing panels, the iQdata Rack

product portfolio now has a complete system with compatible

components specially designed for In-rack cabling in SCHÄFER IS-1

cabinets. This sophisticated system enables the implementation of

structured cabling in all horizontal and vertical planes, as

well as in the 19" plane.

Special attention was paid to the high requirements for fibre optic

cabling as well as integration into the usual data centre cooling

concepts (cold/hot separation). The design and the materials used

mean excess lengths can be stored and cables can be protected

from mechanical damage by means of bend radius limitation, large

contact surfaces and rounded cable fingers.

The system is, of course, also ideally suited to conventional copper

cabling. To ensure all data centre demands are met, the system fulfils

the relevant norms and standards (halogen-free, UL94 V-0, EN 50600,

EN 50173).

Cable management in data centres

The comprehensive cable management system from the

iQdata Rack Portfolio enables structured and professional

cabling in the data centre, taking excess length storage,

bending radii, tensile loads and other mechanical loads into

account.

In addition to the individual, mutually independent stan-

dard cabling components that are installed in the racks, e.g.

cable routing brackets and patch panels, there are solutions

for cabling the entire room. The components are specially

coordinated in order to achieve consistent, uniform and

structured cabling throughout the entire data centre.

The system is specially designed for the use of optical fibres,

due to its structure and the materials used. Of course, it can

also be used for conventional copper cables. To meet all

requirements in the data centre, the system fulfils the requi-

rements of the relevant standards and norms (halogen-free,

UL94 V-0, UL2024 A, RoHS compliant, GR-63 Core, EN 50600,

Thanks to pre-punched connection slits on all components

mounted at the front or rear. The printed height unit

labelling helps to identify the individual height units

more easily when installing equipment.

Baying kitFor fast, easy and mechanically stable baying of IS-1

cabinets. The connectors are located inside the frame-

work and so do not affect internal mounting planes.

It is possible to bay the racks with the side panels moun-

ted. There are different versions available for different

application purposes. If the baying connection needs to

be air tight (z. B. IP54), or is used with enclosures or side

coolers, the kit with sealing material has to be used. For

simple baying, i.e., two adjacent IP20 von floor distri-

butors or cabinets with two side panels, the baying kit

Air flow separation panelsFor vertical and horizontal air-flow separation in 19"

IS-1 racks. These panels guarantee the strict separation of

warm and cold sections necessary in combination with

enclosures or side coolers. They are mounted directly on

the frame and the 19" mounting angles. The panels for

racks of 700 mm and 800 mm widths have U knockouts

at the sides that can be used for cable routing or installing

19" components. On the standard versions, the knockouts

are covered with 1U steel sheet Snap-in blind panels.

For routing sensor cables, for example, all vertical panels

each have a feed-through membrane at the top and

bottom.

robust sheet steel version considerably reduces the fire risk

in data centres compared to plastic panels.

No tools needed for installation, simply push onto the

quick fasteners (“push to close”). The fasteners are opened
