We even conducted a few programs for general public. At the end of the session, Swamiji’s call to the youth to have a blemish less character, nationalistic spirit, faith in one’s culture and empathy towards others were highlighted. Finally the session ended with - Do you have the Heart to feel?(feel for the needy, feel for the motherland) Do you have the Head to think?(think of the ways of helping the needy and towards national growth) Do you have the Hands to serve?(Practically working for the deprived and nation) The managements of the institutions were overwhelmedby the response that they received from the students about the program and many institutions have promised us to give workshops for the development of students in coming days. Interactive Sessions on "Vivekananda – Rousing Call to the YOUth" Swami Vivekananda, one of the greatest visionaries of the world, had a great faith in channelizing the youth

power towards nation building. His electrifying words havebeen motivating millions and millions of people

towards leading a life of fulfillment by serving the nation.

Disha conducted one-hour sessions on"Vivekananda – Rousing Call to the YOUth" in lieu of Vivekananda

Jayanti. The program was unique in both its approach and the message. The session included a talk on the

different aspects of Swami Vivekananda’s personality(blemish less character, patriotic fervor, cultural

ambassador, and propagator of seva) and the second half was dedicated to a video interaction which focused

on how each individual can imbibe the personality traits of Swami Vivekananda mentioned above. The session

also highlighted the relevance of the historic speech Swamiji delivered in Chicago 125 years ago.

The specialty of this year, Disha conducted 2 training programs towards training participants on conducting

the one-hour session in institutions in which over 75 participants took part. These volunteers went around

contacting institutions, fixing the programs and conducted themselves in few places as well.

Disha, with a dedicated team of volunteers, in a span of just one month (Jan 6 to Feb 7), conducted 239

sessions reaching exactly 200 institutions taking the message of Swamiji to 37,000 students. We reached to the

urban, semi-urban and rural places. The institutions ranged from primary school to the post graduate level

and to the professional courses. We even conducted a few programs for general public.

At the end of the session, Swamiji’s call to the youth to have a blemish less character, nationalistic spirit, faith

in one’s culture and empathy towards others were highlighted. Finally the session ended with -

• Do you have the Heart to feel?(feel for the needy, feel for the motherland)

• Do you have the Head to think?(think of the ways of helping the needy and towards national growth)

• Do you have the Hands to serve?(Practically working for the deprived and nation)

The managements of the institutions were overwhelmedby the response that they received from the students

about the program and many institutions have promised us to give workshops for the development of students in

coming days. The spark in the eyes of participantsensured Disha Team to build a vibrant India by transforming

oneself.

In the address, Dr. Arathi stressed on the need to have the holistic education, importance of taking up

responsibilities in life, facing the challenges of life by taking the messages from Swami Vivekananda…..

After the Chief Guest's talk, the Presidential Address was delivered by Prof.Radhakrishna expressing his

views relevance of Swamiji’s idea ofyouth development towards nation’s progress.

Inauguration was followed by Inter-Collegiate competitions for students. There was anoverwhelming response

from many institutions of the city for the event.Totally; there were nearly 800 participants from around 60

institutions to participate in 4 competitions.

123 students from colleges participated in the Speech Contestin Kannada and English on the topic “One quote

of Vivekananda that inspired me the most.” The spirit and their deep knowledge about Swami Vivekananda

captivated the audience and the judges alike. Although there was a drastic increase in the number of participants,

the judges encouraged the students and provided valuable feedback to each one of them.

Street Play witnessed 20 teams from various institutions participating enthusiastically with their creative

presentations on “Corruption in daily life” or “Peep into the future”. The teams presented their unique ideas

through their dialogues and minimum costumes without even props or music or any instruments. The judges

were awestruck by the performance of the students, their team work, ideas and their imagination.

180 teams participated in the Super Minute Dhamaka that centered on the theme of “Bharat Ek Khazana”.

This competition had 3 rounds – Preliminary, Semi Finals and Finals and all the rounds were activity-based.

The activities like arrangement of match sticks tested their speed and agility, memory-based activities that

tested their visual and textual memory and capacity of recollection. Arranging the beads tested their hand-eye

coordination, dumb charades challenged their creativity. The students not only enjoyed the activities, but took

away a lot of information on India about our ancient glory, general facts and current affairs.

A Smart Selfie contest based on the theme of "Vibrant India" was also held for the first time to make the youth

themselves get the perception of youth towards India. The participating teams were given 2 hours of time to

shoot a video or pictureson the theme and compile it into a 4-minute presentation for the judges. 82 teams

participated, showcased their extreme creativity and amazed the judges with their stunning videos and

slideshows.
