CDOL invites proposals for research papers from all the stakeholders who are researching, teaching, administering, or are engaged in re- search to higher education. This conference would provide a single platform for academic exchanges of ideas and experiences thereof. Every challenge in higher education, when looked from a different perspective, may ap- pear to be a new opportunity. This conference aims to utilize this opportunity for bettering the cause of higher education in general and distance education in particular. There are myriad challenges in terms of fostering and imparting higher education in distance mode. There are serious issues vis-a-vis quality con- trol and implementation of best practices. Edu- cational technology is proving itself to be play- ing an unprecedented role in meeting these challenges. This deliberation, therefore, will discuss these challenges and explore possibili- ties for educational technology in the field of higher education. The University conducts Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, M.Phil, Ph.D. as well as Diploma and Certificate courses, and caters to the interests of students from all communities, and aims to meet the particular needs of the disadvantaged sections. It is constantly learning from its history to negotiate the new and emerging challenges facing the nation in the twenty-first century. Jamia Millia Isla- mia was established in 1920 by a group of nationalists at Ali- garh, Uttar Pradesh. Its campus shifted from Aligarh to Delhi in 1925 and the foundation stone of the present campus was laid on 1st March1930. Recognizing its contributions in the field JAMIA MILLIA ISLAMIA The Centre for Distance and Open Learning started in Jamia Millia Islamia with the assis- tance of Distance Education Council in Septem- ber 2002. The Centre started functioning in the session 2003. In 2009 the Centre for Distance and Open Learning was approved by the Minis- try of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. All UG and PG Programmes of the Centre for Distance & Open Learning, JMI have UGC- DEB recognition and NCTE approval. Presently there are twenty programmes (Post- Graduate, Under-Graduate, PG Diploma, Di- ploma and Certificate) being run at the CDOL and its Learner Support Centres located across India. Jamia Millia Islamia is also connected with Delhi Metro Magenta Line. The

commuters may reach here from across Delhi to Jamia Millia Islamia Metro

Station.

Radio taxis, freelance taxis and auto rickshaws are always available from all

the three locations for convenient transit. Bus No. 402 and 403 runs between

Delhi railway station and Jamia Nagar and Bus No. 894 is always available at

Paharganj side of New Delhi railway station to reach the venue of conference.
