Welcome to our 15th anniversary! We’re so glad you’re celebrating with us today! We’ve come a long way since our first event in 2005:• Educated, enlightened and entertained over 190,000 visitors

• Naturalized over 750 new citizens

• Provided vital health screenings and services to 20,000 people

• Partnered with hundreds of community and cultural organizations

• Diverted over 80% of waste from landfill through our Green Program

• Devoted millions of volunteer hours to bring this beautiful celebration to life!

And we have lots of great things in store for today – beautiful art at the Courtyard Theater, more food trucks, more performances, more health screenings, more booths, and more learning activities in our Children’s and STEAM areas than ever before! As always, don’t forget to stop by the Fesvial HQ tent for a free gift when you complete a brief survey, and please sort your trash at an Educational Waste Station.

Thank you, and enjoy! The Festival Team

Greg Rushin, Deputy City Manager, Plano, TexasI am honored to be the Honorary Chair of this 15th annual Plano Internation-al Festival. I have been involved each year but regrettably, due to family commitments, I must be out of town. This festival has always been a high point in my year as my family enjoys the cultural displays, music, dance, and food. I have always been in awe at the Parade of Flags, during opening ceremony,

when flags from around the world are ceremoniously marched into the park, held proudly by our citizens from those countries. This demonstrates the rich diversity that is blended together to make our great city of Plano. I also enjoy the excitement of watching the naturalization ceremony and congratulating our new American citizens. I hope everyone has a great time celebrating and experiencing the beauty of our diversity.

A Note from our 2019 Honorary Chair

Page 5: International FESTIVAL October 112 · Welcome to our 15th anniversary! We’re so glad you’re celebrating with us today! We’ve come a long way since our first event in 2005: •

Be eco-friendly with us!Festivals generate a LOT of waste, but with your help, we can

keep ours as eco-friendly as possible!

1. MINIMIZE waste – only take or buy items you will use more than once, and choose items with no or minimal packaging

2. SORT your trash at an Educational Waste Station

3. PASS IT ON – encourage others to minimize and sort, too!

Our friendly Green Ambassadors will help you sort!

Your efforts helped us win the Plano Environmental Star of Excellence Award 6 times, and we’re proud to have the lowest waste-per-person of any local event!
