May God’s blessings in Christ be with you.

The Scriptures say that God Himself is the chief evangelist.

For the Spirit of God is the Spirit of truth, love, holiness and power,

and evangelism is impossible without Him. It is He who anoints the

messenger, confirms the word, prepares the hearer, convicts the

sinful, enlightens the blind, gives life to the dead, enables us to

repent and believe, unites us to the body of Christ, assures us that we

are God’s children, leads us into Christ-like character and service,

and sends us out in our turn to be Christ’s witnesses. In all this the

Holy Spirit’s main preoccupation is to glorify Jesus Christ by

showing Him to us and forming Him in us.

-John Stott

Christians in community must again show the world, not

merely family values, but the bond of the love of Christ.

-Edmund Clowney

The Call to Worship God calls His people to worship

PSALM 134

Hymn of Praise We praise our glorious God

All Creatures of Our God and King

All creatures of our God and King,

lift up your voice and with us sing

alleluia, alleluia!

Thou burning sun with golden beam,

thou silver moon with softer gleam,

O praise him, O praise him,

alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong,

ye clouds that sail in heav'n along,

O praise him, alleluia!

Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice,

ye lights of evening, find a voice,

O praise him, O praise him,

alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

And all ye men of tender heart,

forgiving others, take your part,

O sing ye, alleluia!

Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,

praise God and on him cast your care,

O praise him, O praise him,

alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Let all things their Creator bless,

and worship him in humbleness,

O praise him, alleluia!

Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,

and praise the Spirit, three in one,

O praise him, O praise him,

alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Invocation We seek the Lord’s presence among us

Doxology We respond in praise

MESSENGER

Praise and glory to the Father,

Praise and glory to the Son,

Praise and glory to the Spirit,

Ever three and ever one.

Welcome Confession of Sin

Our Father in heaven, you know our hearts and how

weak we are. You have shown us great mercy because we have

sinned greatly. You patiently endure our many offenses

against you. In your Son and only in Him are we saved from

the wrath we deserve, for each day we give in to foolish desires

and forget the holiness of Your name. We have sinned against

you in word and deed. We have neglected to do what is right.

We cry out for mercy and rest in the hope of Your good news

for sinners like us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness We find mercy in Christ

ROMANS 8:31-34

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who

can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously

give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's

elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ

Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—

who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for

us.

Hymn of Response We delight in God’s grace

Thy Mercy, My God

Thy mercy, my God, is the theme of my song,

The joy of my heart. and the boast of my tongue;

Thy free grace alone, from the first to the last,

Hath won my affections, and bound my soul fast.

Without Thy sweet mercy I could not live here;

Sin would reduce me to utter despair;

But, through Thy free goodness, my spirits revive,

And He that first made me still keeps me alive.

Thy mercy is more than a match for my heart,

Which wonders to feel its own hardness depart;

Dissolved by Thy goodness, I fall to the ground,

And weep to the praise of the mercy I’ve found.

Great Father of mercies, Thy goodness I own,

And the covenant love of Thy crucified Son;

All praise to the Spirit, Whose whisper divine

Seals mercy, and pardon, and righteousness mine.

The Reading of the Word Acts 4:1-31

[1] And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and

the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, [2]

greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and

proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. [3] And they

arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was

already evening. [4] But many of those who had heard the word

believed, and the number of the men came to about five thousand.

[5] On the next day their rulers and elders and scribes gathered

together in Jerusalem, [6] with Annas the high priest and Caiaphas

and John and Alexander, and all who were of the high-priestly

family. [7] And when they had set them in the midst, they inquired,

“By what power or by what name did you do this?” [8] Then Peter,

filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and

elders, [9] if we are being examined today concerning a good deed

done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed,

[10] let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that

by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified,

whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing

before you well. [11] This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by

you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. [12] And

there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under

heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

[13] Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and

perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were

astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

[14] But seeing the man who was healed standing beside them,

they had nothing to say in opposition. [15] But when they had

commanded them to leave the council, they conferred with one

another, [16] saying, “What shall we do with these men? For that a

notable sign has been performed through them is evident to all the

inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. [17] But in order

that it may spread no further among the people, let us warn them to

speak no more to anyone in this name.” [18] So they called them

and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.

[19] But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the

sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge,

[20] for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”

[21] And when they had further threatened them, they let them go,

finding no way to punish them, because of the people, for all were

praising God for what had happened. [22] For the man on whom

this sign of healing was performed was more than forty years old.

[23] When they were released, they went to their friends and

reported what the chief priests and the elders had said to them. [24]

And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God

and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and

the sea and everything in them, [25] who through the mouth of our

father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit,

“‘Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain?

[26] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were

gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed’—

[27] for truly in this city there were gathered together against your

holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius

Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,

[28] to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to

take place. [29] And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant

to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness,

[30] while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and

wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant

Jesus.” [31] And when they had prayed, the place in which they

were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with

the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with

boldness.

Closing Hymn We respond in faith and song

Upon a Life I Did Not Live

Upon a Live I have not lived,

Upon a Death I did not die,

Another’s Life, Another’s Death,

I stake my whole eternity.

Not on the tears which I have shed,

Not on the sorrows I have known,

Another’s tears; Another’s griefs,

On these I rest, on these alone.

O Jesus, Son of God, I build on what Thy cross has done for me;

There both my death and life

I read, my guilt, and pardon there I see.

Lord, I believe; O deal with me,

As one who has Thy Word believed!

I take the gift, Lord, look on me,

As one who has Thy gift received.

Committee on Re-Opening Survey: The Elders miss seeing you

and being with you in corporate worship. It is OK to say, "It has

been hard, and there is an ache to worship together. "COVID-19

has challenged us to think differently about ministering the gospel

to one another and our neighbors.

As we contemplate the challenges of returning to public worship,

we ask in advance that we all would give grace to those who view

how to reopen differently. As we seek to return for public worship,

let the world know that we are His by our love for one another.

This survey is for the Facility Re-Opening Committee to gather

information to assist in our planning.

The Session is committed to following the guidelines from the

Governor's office. There are also other considerations that will be a

part of our decision on when to restart public worship. A main piece

of the puzzle is how to implement the guidelines.
