Objectives
Students will:
1. Identify and analyze basic Internet safety rules
2. Understand the dangers of cyberbullying
3. Understand how to use Social Networking appropriately and safely
Lesson Procedure
1. Watch the videos.
2. Facilitate discussion. Keep in mind that this can be done before, during, and after the video(s)
- whatever works for you)
3. Ask students their opinions on internet safety, cyberbullying, and social networking sites.
4. Complete the writing activity.
5. Record student completion of Internet Safety Lesson by either: (school administration discretion) a. roster verification (simply checking that the student was in attendance for the lesson) or
b. an assignment through the Student Information System (SIS), Infinite Campus.

6. Regardless of the method, a written report of the participation of ALL students should be
provided to the Principal or the Principal’s designee and should be signed by the teacher
indicating that the students on the report have completed the Internet Safety Training.
Activity
After students have watched the suggested videos have them write a paragraph (or more) explaining
why it is important to be safe on the internet. The paragraph should include how to be a good digital
citizen, what can be done to prevent CyberBullying, and the benefits and dangers of social media.
For younger students you may want them to draw a picture or a “safety poster” instead of writing a
paragraph. The picture should depict some aspect of Internet Safety that has been covered in the
videos or class discussion. Some ideas and examples are on the following pages.
