UH Construction Management (CM) has proudly partnered with and served the construction industry since the 1950s, while growing into one of the largest construction education programs in the country with over 800 students. We offer a bachelor’s degree, an online master’s degree, and one-year certificate programs in Construction Management. The undergraduate program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).

Students can choose to specialize in commercial construction or Process & Industrial Construction, the first of its kind in the nation.

Educational instruction is provided by 6 full-time faculty and over 20 industry professionals (adjunct faculty) that bring real-world experience to the classrooms.

Listening to the industry needs and training industry-ready graduates is our single focus at UH CM. In return, the industry has offered our graduates rewarding careers such as project manager, construction manager, superintendent, field engineer, scheduler, estimator, and project controls specialist with major regional and national contractors, owners, and some of the fastest growing businesses in construction.

Internship Program OverviewReal-world intern experience along with rigorous academic training is how UH CM partners with the industry in preparing industry-ready graduates to meet employers’ talent needs.

Benefits for Employers: The opportunity to identify your future leaders. Internship is an opportunity for businesses to test run CM juniors and seniors before making a long-term commitment, and it grows interns to be loyal employees. The internship program also familiarizes students with employer brands through job postings and other career events.

Benefits for Students: “Learn. Work. Earn.” The internship program allows students to apply knowledge learned in the classroom to real world projects, gain on-the-job experience, and support themselves financially throughout the paid internship. Successful completion of a qualifying internship is also a graduation requirement at UH CM.

How It Works: After a student and employer reach the intern/job offer stage, the student requests pre-approval from the UH CM department to ensure qualification for CM internship academic credits. The expectation for students in the internship program is to work a minimum of 400 hours. They must also receive a supervisor evaluation at the end of the internship. The student must also enroll in a course to document their internship learning experience in a final report.
