PREFACE

I.1. Background

There are plenty of technology innovation that have been made by engineering and

scientist in this decade. To be one of them, some particular skills are needed, such as

professionalism and be an open-minded person. It obviously derived from college

environment, before getting the title and become as a graduate student. In addition, a

graduate student should improve his/her skill and have a good social communication with

others. Social and culture environment and lifestyle of professional workers must be

understood, because things that we’ve learned and studied in University sometimes are

not same with the real fact we will find in the field.

With internship program, college student can get the chance to observe, compare, and

apply the theories they have learned in the University. Also, they could get more

knowledge and also to solve a problem in corresponding industry. In other hand, for a

company, internship could be an event to search for new human resources and an event to

evaluate the quality of graduate student. Based on the above ideas. We want to apply

internship program to your company, and we hope what you will accept our proposal. We

are sure that we will get the benefits from this internship program we propose.

I.2. Purpose

The objective of this practical work program :

1. To know the competence of a Materials and Metallurgical Engineering graduate that

the industry needs.

2. To have an experience and a wider knowledge about the process in the field of

extractive metallurgy, gold refinery, maintaining process.

3. To understand and get used to the working situation

4. To fulfill a requirement to graduate from Materials and Metallurgical Engineering

Department of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember

5. To get the chance to observe, to compare, and to apply theories from Universities

lectures industry.

The Internship program will be held in PT. ANTAM Tbk, Logam Mulia Precious

Metals Refinery Business Unit Jl. Pemuda – Jl.Raya Bekasi Km.18, Pulogadung, Jakarta,

In this internship program, we prefer to support engineering division especially in

Extraction Metallurgy, include mining, smelting, and refining process. In that division we

by cases that occurred in the field, we will participate on teams that help other engineers make

the best use of current materials and metallurgical technology which guided by the experts in

Logam Mulia Precious Metals Refinery Business Unit, Pulogadung, Jakarta, Indonesia.
