I don't care how loud they shout, and I don't care how high they jump. It's what they do when they come back down that counts." We talked about worship last Sunday morning when we came “to the meeting.” The next two Sundays we will talk about what you do when you “come back down” after worship. As we learned from our text in Isaiah 6 last Sunday, worship should always help us to meet the world and respond as Isaiah did when he said, “Here am I; send me.” Our next two Pillars of the Church turn our focus outward. God wants us to be an Inviting and Caring Church. God wants us to be a Missional Church. That is what we do when we come back down. The worship theme for this Sunday will be about inviting and caring. There is a great story in John 4 about a woman who had her life changed by an encounter with Jesus. She then went and invited her friends to come share what she had found. That is our mission! Grandma was right. “It’s what they do when they come back down that counts.” Let’s talk about that – and practice that – in the days that lie ahead. David Hull

Hal Brady tells of a young couple from the hills of Arkansas who became involved in a church where there was a lot of shouting and clapping and running for Jesus. They were trying to convince Grandma that she should attend.

"You should have seen it," the young man said to Grandma. "The Holy Spirit was really there!"

Grandma kept rocking and didn't say a word.

“And, Grandma," said the young woman, "you should have seen the preacher. He really got with it. He was screaming at the top of his voice and the people were popping up like popcorn to praise the Lord. It was unbelievable!"

Again, Grandma kept right on rocking. Finally, the young man said, "Grandma, don't you like our church? You never seem to say."

Grandmafinallyspoke:"Honey, letmejustputitthisway.Idon'tcarehow loudtheyshout, andIdon'tcarehowhightheyjump. It'swhattheydowhen they come back down that counts."

We talked about worship last Sunday morning when we came “to the meeting.” The next two Sundays we will talk about what you do when you “come back down” after worship.

David Hull

Christian Sympathy Notifications. In order to inform our congregation in a more timely manner regarding the death of church members or their family, we have been sending emails of Christian sympathy to our congregation. In doing this, we hope friends and care groups will have opportunity to attend memorial services, and have the information needed to provide loving support. We will send emails once we have all information regarding funeral arrangements and will include appropriate contact information for the family. The subject line will read“Christian Sympathy”, allowing you to quickly identify the intent of the email. If we do not have your email in our church system, andyouwouldliketoreceivethesenotifications, pleasecontactCyndi Busby and give her your email address. [email protected]

As we continue to focus on maintaining a healthy and safe church environment, I want to thank each of you that attended the AED/CPRtrainingtaughtbyAngelaTom.Theonehourtrainingwasvery informative and extremely worthwhile. When Someone Asks You for Money in the Parking Lot...Sharing our Benevolence MinistryPart of our calling is to minister to the poor and those in need. Over the years, our church has discovered the best way to do this is with an organized Benevolence Ministry. Throughthis ministry on Tuesday mornings, the church offers rentaland utilities assistance and provides groceries. In addition, counselors spend time in conversation with clients—listening totheirstories, offeringprayersupport, andsharingthegospel.Through this ministry, we are able to identify those who need assistance and share resources appropriately.

Some of you are approached by those asking for money as you leave the campus, and it often places you in a difficultsituation because you want to help, but you don’t know the best approach. So you are encouraged to point them towards our Benevolence Ministry. Give people this phone number, 706-312-0900, and instruct them to call between 9-10AM onMonday morning to schedule an appointment for Tuesday. Also, please know our ministry is not capable of providing crisis or immediate assistance. However, we provide a handout that listsorganizationswherepeoplecangoinacrisissituation(e.g.,for housing). These lists are available at the Welcome areas in the Administration Building and Mission Activity Center.

Finally, you are encouraged to give to our Benevolence Ministry. God values your compassion and desire to help those in need. So allow our Benevolence Ministry to partner with you, sharing yourfinancialcontributionswiththewonderfulpeopleweseeon Tuesday mornings.
