Dylan: Erm as you may know it is Oldham er athletics 17th consecutive er season in the 3rd division of English football this season and er with Oldham’s start to the season being very similar to last years are you hoping that the boys step it up a level towards Christmas? Carl: Yes I think er were going in the right direction were since there’s a lot of form were just losing by the odd goal er which shows we are capable we just need a bit more look and er hopefully we will progress to mid table, maybe playoffs by the end of the season. Dylan: Yeah that’s great erm from the next few fixtures this month there’s only actually Notts County who are below us in the league erm do you think it’s going to be a struggle to secure points from the next few fixtures? Carl: No like I said we seemed to raise our game against the best teams so I’m confident we can do and by Christmas I expect us to be at least mid-table. Dylan: Ye I agree with you erm of course it was lee Johnson to the rescue as he came in for the last ten games at the end of last season and er saved Oldham from relegation, do you feel that relegation is going to be a concern for this season? Carl: No I’m pretty sure we at least are mid table er by the end of the season with a bit more luck maybe playoffs but definitely mid table. Dylan: Erm and er how do you feel lee could achieve this for the team? Carl: Just with his philosophy like you know his football philosophy I just think we’re one or two player’s shorts but er the way we're playing like as er we will improve and get stronger as the season progresses. Dylan : As you know Oldham had a unexpected cup run last year getting to the fifth round of the FA cup before being knocked out by Everton er on a replay, how do you think there luck will pan out this year? Carl : Well hopefully we will have another cup run like it was fantastic last season it brought a lot of money into the club and er boosted the funds and er the profile of the town sort of thing and er so hopefully another good cup draw and another good cup run will be fantastic for the team. Dylan: Ye thanks and er just turned it off end erm seen as though you’ve been following Oldham for a long time now er as I know erm how have things changed from like such as the eighties and nineties erm just not on the field of play but you know as the following of the team and things like that? Carl: Well the following is still superb we have a great following and I think we were the best you er followed team in the division er especially for the size of our home games, our home games have come down since the eighties and nineties er but that’s out of the success but are away forms still superb and I'm very proud of that.
