The programs we install on our computers and use on a daily basis are application software. I’m using presentation

software right now to create this file.

Also open on my computer is a web browser, a poker game, and a syncing program for my PDA.

Software and Programs

Software is generally a collection of programs. Microsoft Word software includes programs for

installation, spell check, format conversions, etc.

Some programs are meant to be launched by the user and some programs are meant to be launched by the software (other programs).

In addition to programs, software can be made up of many other files, including data files.


Computer Programmers

Computer programmers write the programs that make up the software product. They use C, C++, C# (C-Sharp),

Java, VB, PHP, Perl, and many more.

Programming languages are used by humans, but computers must convert these high-level languages into machine language with special programs: Compilers Interpreters
