Checklist for Students to be Successful in Year 11

Completion of all courses.

A ‘C ’ average (minimum requirement).

A ‘C ’ or better in English or Literature.

To continue University pathway: a competitive score for Uni entry (65% average or better) – ‘B ’ grades.

To continue STP/TAFE Diploma pathway: A minimum ‘C ’ in all Year 11 courses. Working towards completion of a Certificate II course (Year 12).

Repeat Course UnitsStudents can repeat course units.

However repeated units will only count once for WACE requirements.

Expectations of Year 11

Students who have been deemed not to have gained their Year 12 Status will be required to have an interview with Ms Schofield or one of the Course Advisors before the end of Term 4.

Students may be designated as Year 11 in the following academic year (Year 12) and not be permitted to attend Year 12 extra curricular activities until they are on the pathway to achieving their WACE at the end of 2015.

PRIVATE STUDY 2015

Eligible students will have:

An ATAR/University pathway

Achieved sound results in Year 11 (‘B’ average);

Demonstrated a high level of responsibility for their learning and time management.

Approval will depend on assessment of each individual case by the

College’s Course and Careers Advisor, with whom the student and

parent(s) will be required to meet to fully consider the implications of

the reduction to five full-year courses.

Students can select from of the many CERTIFICATE courses to give you the competitive edge for STP/TAFE and portfolio entry.

Students will sit external WACE exams in Stage 3 courses at the end of 2015.

Stage 2 WACE exit exams in 2015 will be optional. Students who opt out of Stage 2 WACE exit exams will not be able to use the achievement in those courses in the calculation of an ATAR.

Gain a signature of endorsement from the appropriate teacher for ALL courses/certificates. The teacher may decline. (Recommendations made in Semester One Report comment)

Students choosing courses not recommended by their teachers MUST have an appointment with a Course & Careers Advisor BEFORE handing in the selection form.

The appointment must be made before the end of Term 2.
