Removable Complete Denture (CD):

A removable dental prosthesis that replaces theentire dentition and associated structures of themaxilla and/or mandible

1. Conventional

3. Overdenture

Parts of Complete Denture

A) Denture Base:

which cover the edentulous

tissue area and carries theartificial teeth

B) Teeth:

whichare attached to thedenture base for the purpose ofchewing, esthetic, phonetics..etc

CD has three surfaces:

i. Polished surface

The outer surface of the denture and in contact tothe muscle of cheek and tongue

ii. Fitting Surface:

The inner surface of the denture that contact to the

oral mucosa

iii. Occlusal Surface:

A surface of posterior teeth or occlusion rim that isintended to make contact with opposing occlusal

surface

Steps in CD Construction

CD construction needs six visits:

1. Diagnosis, treatment plan, primary impression

(preliminary)2. Border molding and final impression

3. Jaw relation record

4. Try-in the teeth

5. Insertion of the denture

6. Post-insertion adjustment

Immediate Denture

A removable complete or partial denture fabricated forreplacement immediately following the removal of

natural teeth

Overdenture

A removable complete or partial denture that coversand rests on one or more remaining natural teeth,roots and/or dental implant

Single Denture

It is a denture either maxillary or mandibular that isopposed either natural teeth, or removable partialdenture , or fixed partial or old denture
