• Intern supervised practice hours per week:

• 4 days; 32 hours supervised practice

• 1 day – class day, homework time,

study time

• Schedule agreed upon with

preference of CNM and clinical team

• Some sites request 5 days per week,

others request 3 days per week – we

can accommodate your needs

• Patient Services Rotation 40 hours; 5 days• Clinical Nutrition Management Rotation 40 hours;

5 days

• Clinical Rotations 528 hours; 66 days• Basic Clinical: 96 hours; 12 days• Intermediate Clinical: 184 hours; 23 days• Advanced Clinical: 184 hours; 23 days• Staff Relief: 64 hours; 8 days

• Create a positive environment for the intern

• Give positive reinforcement and reassurance

• Use role modeling, especially in the beginning

• Have intern observe you, then joint patient counseling or patient interview; then you observe intern

• Establish regular feedback times -- both formal and informal
