Introduction to Weather vs Climate
We have learned that due to its atmosphere, Earth’s temperatures stay in a range that supports life. On earth
that is an average of 58 degrees Fahrenheit.
Does that mean that all places on Earth have an average of 58 degrees?
What makes some places hotter or colder?
Atmosphere – The gases surrounding a planet
Weather – The atmospheric conditions in a particular place at a specific time. Weather is short-term – a minute, hour, day, week or month.
Climate – The average weather in a specific area over a long period of time, based off of a lot of collected data (usually at least 30 years).
