Executive Director’s

Corner

It takes a noble person to plant a seed in order to grow a tree that will one day provide shade to those whom one may never meet. This popular quote extols the virtue of selfless philanthropy – providing help to those you may never meet or know. Helping future generations is truly a noble gesture. Charitable endowments are a popular way to provide a perpetual source of financial support for charitable causes. Endowments are meant to last forever – assisting future generations through your philanthropy today. The cover picture portrays those in Noble County who had the vision to create and form the Noble County Community Foundation over 20 years ago to support the charitable needs forever. Now reaching assets of $18,800,000 the foundation continues to connect people who care with causes that matter. As we all learned from the recent and lingering Great Recession, resources are finite and most often not recoverable. It is up to all of us to use them

wisely and intentionally in whatever we are endeavoring to accomplish. For the Noble County Community Foundation it is about balancing the response to immediate critical needs while continuing to invest in visions for a future in which individuals, families and communities in our county will flourish.

Sincerely,

Linda Speakman-Yerick

Foundation Engages Community with

New Platform – “Noble County Gives”

The Community Foundation is

proud and excited to introduce a

new platform to allow agencies

and organizations to connect with

donors to learn about the needs

in our community. Nonprofits will

have the ability to go to our web

site and request to post a need,

with that they can also include

pictures or a video to share with

those who visit our website.

Donors can search a variety of

categories, organizations and

individuals needing funds to

provide important community

services and programs.

The platform is a place to learn about community needs, read about

projects that need funding, and how much money is needed.

Examples might be a 3rd grade teacher wanting to give her students

an art class, a local group providing education about homelessness,

or an animal shelter needing food.

Page 5: Investing In Your Community · 2015-11-16 · Kendallville Daycare Center received a grant of $1,500 to subsidize the cost of ... sport, food, music, dance, literature, history and

www.NobleCountyCF.org 5

Learn about funding requests then add your donation to those from

other generous donors. Whether you give $10 or $100, any size gift

made through the community platform will impact the community.

Rest assured that this platform is a safe, secure place where you can

make your donation. This is unique for the foundation to provide an

unmatchable opportunity to touch new generations and lives within

Noble County.

Each funding requests or need will be posted for approximately 90

days with current information posted as to the amount raised to date

the details of the organizations need and include stories of how those

needs have been met. New requests will be added regularly and the

success stories will multiply, so be sure to visit often.

Noble County Gives will allow anyone to visit our site and see

firsthand what some of the immediate needs are in Noble County.

This part of the site will be coming soon. Watch for announcements

in the local newspapers and on Facebook.

At the Noble County Community Foundation, every gift from every donor is truly appreciated. If we have neglected to mention any contribution, please

accept our sincerest apology for the unintentional oversight, and thank you so much for your philanthropy.

The quilt pictured above shows Trent Zuehsow’s love of choir and theatre with numerous t-shirts he collected. The quilt was made for Trent by his mother, Suzanne.
