ABOUT

CACUSSThe Canadian Association of College & University Student Services (CACUSS) is a professional association representing and serving those individuals who work in Canadian post-secondary institutions in student affairs and services and boasts almost 2000 members from coast to coast.

THE CONFERENCEThe annual CACUSS conference is the largest gathering of student affairs professionals in Canada. Now entering our 47th year, we bring together over 700 professionals to share best practices, research, procedures and programs related to student learning, success and wellness.

• Exhibit hall, showcasing the latest technology and trends• Sunday night welcome reception• Over 150 concurrent sessions

• Networking Breaks• Pre-conference sessions• An exciting closing reception

WHO ATTENDS• Professionals from admissions, graduate studies, records and systems, scholarships & awards and recruitment• Senior University and College Leaders including Presidents, Chairs, board members and senior administration

• Campus Mental Health Leaders and Researchers• Accessibility and Residence Professionals• Students and emerging Student Affairs Professionals

These leaders from across Canada and abroad will meet to discuss policy, strategy and issues in post-secondary education, as well as innovative ways to implement new ideas around student success to their campuses.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN THE EXHIBITOR SHOWCASE?

THE HOST INSTITUTIONSFor the first time, five Ontario colleges come together to present #CACUSS20:

• Information Technology providers• Administrative and marketing software companies• Enrolment management companies• Promotional Product Specialists

• Service providers• Health and Wellbeing organizations• Accessibility technology services• Higher Education organizations/consultants

The themeLearn • Unite • Act: An Iceberg to Explore The “C” in CACUSS referencing colleges is often absent in our professional (dare we say “privileged” university) dialogue. Interestingly, college education, with little to no endowments or research money, is truly about transforming conditions for students—who are clearly the primary stakeholders of the institution. By providing diverse pathways to education and learning directly connected to work, colleges enable students to meaningfully contribute to the economy while earning a living. However, because students begin their educational journey within a professional community, they also learn the importance of connection and relationships - not only within a profession, but also as part of a global community.

As a professional community there are important learning parallels from the college system for our profes-sional dialogue:

• We have to continue to LEARN, particularly outside of our dominant paradigms (majoritized identities, as settlers, university-centric perspectives, to name a few);• We need to UNITE as a professional community to explore, be uncomfortable through challenge, and be supported to transform; and • We are called to ACT within our profession to create conditions for students to develop their global self and create a more just society through their actions.

This is the depth of the iceberg beneath the simple tip of Learn • Unite • Act.

Supporting our overall theme are the streams that work together to round out the experience at CACUSS

• Equity, Diversity, Inclusion• Indigenous Cultural Awareness• Evolving Perspectives on Mental Health

THE CITYToronto’s having a real moment—you can feel the incredible sense of pride and energy here. As the front door to Canada, the message is simple—let yourself in—be a part the excitement, diversity and unapologetic progressiveness that defines who we are.

Nearly half of Toronto’s residents are immigrants and more than 200 languages are spoken in Canada’s largest city. Take a deep dive into the city’s diversity by exploring some of its 140 neighborhoods.
