TRP#7 – First-professionals

• Held February 23-24, 2004• Charge: To examine how the

first-professional category is used in IPEDS and whether it needs to be changed

• Focus group session – Wed 9am Jeff Weber, NCES Senior Fellow

TRP#7 – First-professionals - continued

• Possible suggestions:– Expand to include emerging fields

such as physical therapy and audiology

– Eliminate the category altogether and have degrees reported in other levels (M.D. = doctor’s degree)

• Modify definition• Concern is loss of trend data

TRP#6 – Derived variables

• Held February 4-5, 2004 • Charge: Review list of derived

variables that will be added to DAS, peer tool
