LEARN MORE ABOUT IRC

INDUS ROBOTICS CLUB is a group of engineering

students of Indus University from all domains, who are enthusiastic and

passionate for making robots or studying

Robotics.

Our mission is to make India the champion at

International Asia- Pacific Robot Contest

(ABU) Robocon. In the competition robots have

to complete a task within a set period of

time.

The Indus ROBOCON team named as

TEAM IMPULSE consists of around

25 people those who are assiduous and

work with high level of aplomb.

The team’s labor and passion

towards the mission, makes one to salute

over them. The team is under guidance of

captain Vatsal Shah and vice-captain Jagrut

Dave. These people have the ability to

aggrandize even a small opportunity

coming their way.

The IRS has got around

90 students from different

departments. The team as

in whole is every dedicated

towards the club. They

show great leadership skills

a n d h a v e g o o d

coordination among them.

Speaking of Vatsal Shah, he’s the one who never ne-

glects an opportunity for Team’s improvements. He be-

lieves that hard work beats talent when talent doesn't

work hard. Apart from being the captain of IRC, he’s

also the ex-president of ESYNC students association

and is the chairperson of Indus IEEE student branch.

Whereas the vice-captain Jagrut Dave is calm and

composed. He always wears a smile on his face. His

belief lies in work, not in luck. Simplicity and

efficiency are his crowns. He won Intel Instructable

Idea Challenge in Internet of Things (IoT), he’s also

president of IEEEA.

Overall, we are very

fortunate to have them both.

“In that our first step is

ROBOCON 2k16. We believe

they can and will win.”

“We are the Tech buddies, who

believe in bringing a change in the

electronics and mechanical sector.”

A team cannot run without an expert invigilation. The Indus

Robotics Club comes under the supervision of two reliable

faculties-Prof. Sauravsingh Tomar and Prof. Jalpan Dave.

FACULTIES IN-CHARGE

When asked Prof. Sauravsingh

Tomar about his views on

Robocon, he said excitedly, “I

believe knowledge comes with

experience and experience

comes by working. Our team

consists of top students of our

university from different

branches. We’ve assembled

together best possible talent

from Indus University with only

one aim ROBOCON- 2016. I

believe today our aim looks

easier because of captain Vatsal

Shah and vice captain Jagrut

Dave”.

If it were not for their support and motivation this club

wouldn’t have achieved this height of success.

When asked the same question

to Prof. Jalpan Dave, he gladly

said, “ We are coming to an age

where mediocrity is a curse,

whether one is an engineer or

philosopher and one

dimensional knowledge or

thinking is not considered and

have to match the pace. Pushing

limits, designing innovating

beyond branches and putting

theories into practice serves as

an extra edge. So Robocon is the

paradigm shift for all the

students involved where future

is bright. Last but not the least I

wish all the best to the team”.

EVENTS ORGANISED BY IRC

Roborace & Robosoccer

ROBORACE The roborace competition saw lots of newbies and experienced competitors. The roborace track was incumbrous with twists and turns and bumps and trenches. Only few robots survived the inordinately tricky path. Amongst those few only 10 participants who consumed lesser time were selected for the next round.

ROBOSOCCER Shouts of cheering could be heard all over the campus. The robosoccer competition was very

successful with participants excitedly groaning and yelling with vigor. Only the venturesome

participated in this competition as this wasn’t a piece of cake walk. The competitors were thrilled as

the soccer is in vogue and its craze is propagating in India. The event was a jolly one with healthy

competition and lots of fun.

SWACHHATA ABHIYAN

“Cleanliness is next to godliness” is the mantra of Mahatma Gandhi. He demonstrated,

propagated and insisted for individual and community cleanliness throughout his life. Following

his footprints, Indus Robotics Club organized SWACHHATA ABHIYAN in a very innovative way. In

order to carry forward the dream of Gandhiji, the club came up with an event of SWACHHATA

ABHIYAN by Human on 1st of October,2015, where students and faculty members devoted

themselves in cleaning Indus University main road and entrance of Rancharda village with a vision

to make our surrounding open defection free, zero waste, dust free and green.

The next day, that is, 2nd October, Indus Robotics Club gave a small tribute by organizing

SWACHHATA ABHIYAN by robots, having an inventive idea of ‘Clean India Show by Robots’.

40 robots implemented by 80 students participated in the event.

Invited chief guest Ms. Rheanne Bisson, a Canadian Social Worker was confounded to see the

robots and their operation of cleaning the ground both in dry/wet way and the robots filling

colors on Gandhiji’s portrait. The team had a great support of Management of Indus University,

and Mr. Jagat Shah member of Indus University’s board of governors .

DRIVER-LESS CAR

Students from EEE 5th semester has developed Driverless car, which will work on single switching function and will work automatically without any external control . According, to them Driverless car is the next big thing in future and will replace public transport, even Google is working on it. Here, they are presenting it in a cheaper way than what google is doing. They are using sound sensors to make it possible.

SIXTH-SENSE MEDIA PLAYER

Students from EC 5th semester developed a system that can control media player using certain hand gestures. Sixth sense or gestural interface is a popular term especially in robotics and wearable systems. Many hand gesture controlled media players have been developed based on image processing techniques. Here, we present another cheap, faster and user-friendly technique to control the media player using a hand glove. It requires Windows Media Player, LabVIEW, Arduino and an accelerometer.
