1Using mathematical logical tools

ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION with which the result is ANALOGY by SIMILARITY

and ANALOGY by CONTRAST.

SUBTRACTION/ excavationresistance of matter, form of emptiness, prime spaceinternal-infinite space that with its natural form shows the expressionism of nature- rock- cave- preservation of the valuable - WINE

ADDITIONvolumes in golden ration (aspect of nature), designed with a straight line (man made/ unnatural).

The NATURAL LANDSCAPE and ARTIFICIAL STRUCTUREby contrast compliment eachother and emphasize their difference and importance.

ex. a natural landscape on its own is something to appreciate, however when adding a little house in the middle of the natural image, it brings out the full potential and beauty of both.

3 types of VOLUMESmetamorphosis from artificial to natural

- vertical and horizontal tower- orthogonal in plan and section- production tract- orthogonal in plan, organic in section- barrique cellar- organic, spontaneous, natural

creating volumes that are in CONSTANT CONTACT with the GROUND

DESCARTES COORDINATESvolume I: sinks into - direction y- axisvolume II: intersects, enters half way - direction z- axisvolume III: completely descends under - direction x- axis

2NEEDED AREAS

- large cinema hall- 1118 seating capacity- small cinema hall- 167 seating capacity- cloak rooms- restrooms- annex building: restaurant, entertainment, child care

PRINCIPLE OF DESIGN- grupation of functions + independent annex

- choosing a SEGMENT of the LANDSCAPE design and BLENDING and uniting it with the OBJECT.

- shaping the three main volumes as part of the landscape and urban structure

- tracing PATHS and DIRECTIONS of the nearby OPERA HOUSE and using them to create a unique SHELL that HOVERS over the complex.

3The general shape of the production hall is very clean and ORTHOGONAL, executed in reinforced concrete and the facade in light transmitting, prefabricated concrete panels-Litracon™.

These ramps connect the technical and natural atmosphere by letting the green surface penetrate into the object and turn into a plantation on the roof. The idea of the ramps is not only to CONNECT but also ILLUMINATE the interior as well as play a role of a SHOWROOM through which an outside visitor could view the production process and never interrupt it.

of which the administration and restaurant are isolated on the roof. The comfortable and calm ambiance of the roof is purposely interrupted and enriched with the perforating chimneys which remind of the primal function of this object.

4Three identical CUBICAL MASSES "SUPERMAKET".

Each cube is conceptualized with a model BOX WITHIN A BOX

This is a hanging construction secured onto a SHELL which covers and again unites the whole complex.

5MAIN IDEA

Depiction of the image of Slovenia - imitation of nature.Symbolically portraying the natural treasures with the used materials, design and structure.

PILLAR- TREE dispersed throughout the empty space- symbolizing a dense FOREST

FURNITURE - FLORA/ FAUNAvitra conceptual furniture

FUNCTIONSprimary:

informing yourself individually- tv + headphones, comfortable, isolated spaces to take as much time as you needseating area on two levels, two atmospheresstaring up at the sky- bottom/ sitting in the tree crowns - top

secondary:info desk- quick informationrestroomcafe bar

6ELEMENTS

2 speakers- two independent audio channels through a configuration of two speakersCD playerCD raft

The main focus of the design is to incorporate 3 ELEMENTS into one compact object. It is meant to hang vertically = space saver/ wall decor.

DIRECTION IN DESIGNThe SHAPE derives from the HUMAN SENSES. After an analysis on their physical form,it was more then evident that the sense of hearing is most adequate, for it converts sound into memory, as is this concept of audio system which is designed to reproduce sound with great directionality and audible perspective, creating an impression of natural sound. The shape is made of three attached volumes, 2 ellipses and a ribbon joint between the two.Organic, simple, modern.

7 about cloud

We make clouds. The aim is to explore possibilities of ambivalentconditions by producing ephemeral structures. The methodology of work will emerge through discussions, perceiving of natural phenomena of sunlight / shadow and its reflections within the city.In broader sense, this process should deal withconcept of borders – their elusiveness and their distortionin shifted condition that we create and perpetually distort. The workshop is structured through three topics whichrefer to different types of surfaces / the city, the seaand the beach. The shadow is seen as literal (a shape), phenomenal (blur)and pragmatic (a sun shade).Working method is producing ephemeral floating structureswhich will create specific conditions. We expect the participants to be involved in the whole process- from developing the concept to building structures and documenting and exploring the effects. The expected OUTCOME should be achieved on three levels: PHYSICAL (objects / ephemeral structures as a toolwhich we will conceptualize, create and produce); PERCEPTIVE (shape and its projections – shadows – through which we question the notion of borders) and THEORETICAL (making a shift in understandingof spatial relations in architecture)

Man's ambitions to create natural elements is a never-ending dream, to create nature that is not fake but rather real in an artificial way.Can we clone the natural phenomenon?
