IRISH RESEARCHERS COME UP WITH DEVICE TO MONITOR TEETH GRINDING Researchers in Ireland have developed a mouth guard, worn by the patient at night, containing hundreds of sensors that relay grinding (bruxism) information to a smartphone and their dentist. The goal of these devices, besides reducing stress and wear on the teeth, will be to reduce TMJ disorder, headaches and migraines, problems that are often related to grinding the teeth. The mouthguards will not be available for patients to purchase at stores or online, but from dentists, who will monitor the data and make treatment decisions based on the information. An article in Dentistry Today online on this research can be read by clicking here . At Clark Family Dental we look forward to this device being made available, since we have many patients that appear to have bruxism problems. We care about your health.
