SPECIFICATION FOR

TOOL ADAPTORS FOR NUMERICALLY CONTROLLED MACHINE TOOLS ( TOOL STATIONARY TYPE )

1. Scope-Covers the dimensions and requirements of tool adaptors required for mounting or numerically controlled machine tools ( tool stationary type).

I.1 The tool shanks shall conform to IS : 11172 ( Parts 1 & 2 )-I985 ‘Tool shanks for numerical11 zontrolled maching tools ( tool stationary type ): Part I Cylindrical shank; and Part 2 Prismatic shank’.

?. Type - Types of adaptors are given in Table 1.

3. Dimensions and Tolerances - Shall be as given in Tables 2 to 21.

1. Material - Shall conform to IS : 11172 ( Part 1 )-I985 except for types 16 and 20, for which the naterial shall be alloy steel having a tensile strength not less than 600 MPa in the core after case lardening.

i. Hardness - Shall conform to IS : 11172 ( Part 1 )-I985 except for types 16 and 20, for which the lardness shall be 590 to 630 HV after case hardening. c

i. General Requirements

i.1 Tolerance on dimensions without specified tolerances shall be of class of deviation ‘medium’ zcording to IS : 2102 ( Part 1 )-I980 ‘General tolerances for dimensions and form and position: ‘art 1 General tolerances for linear and angular dimensions ( second revision )‘.

i.2 Suitable screws for clamping the tools shall be provided alongwith the adaptors.

i.3 The adaptors shall be free from cracks, burns and other manufacturing defects.

1. Designation - Shall be as given in the respective Tables. The designation will contain type If adaptor shank diameter of adaptor and height/dia of the tool being held. For example, tool adaptor type 1, having shank dia D1 = 30 for tools having shank height HI = 16 mm, shall be designated as:

B. Marking - The tool adaptor shall be marked with the designation and manufacturer’s name )r trade mark.

). Protective Coating and Packing - The tool adaptors shall be covered with suitable rust Iroofing material and wrapped in non-absorbent paper, and packed in suitable boxes for safe landling and transport.

19. Certification Marking - Details available with the Bureau of Indian Standards.
