lndian Standard SPECIFICATION FOR

MUSTARD AND RAPE SEED OILCAKE AS LIVESTOCK FEED INGREDIENT

(Second Revision )

‘0. FOREWORD

0.1 This Indian Standard ( Secoud%evision ) was adopted by the Indian Standards Institution on 31 Januaryl986, after the draft finalized by the Animal Feeds Sectional Committee had been approved by the Agricultural and Food Products Division Council.

0.2 ‘The formulation of this standard was undertaken by the Animal Feeds Sectional Committee in accordance with the programme planned for the preparation of Indian Standards for the various ingredients used in com- pounding feed mixtures. At the same time, the need for the speedy formulation. of standards for’ oilseed ,cakes was emphasized by the Indian Central Oilseeds Committee and the Directorate of Marketing and Inspec- tion, Government of India. It ispxpected that this standard will assist in the development of the mixed feed industry i&this country.

0.3 This standard was first published in 1961 and revised in 1972. In this revision requirements of the material and various test methods are being up-dated.

0.4 Inclusion of the aflatoxin limit in the standard did not find favour with the committee at &is stage beoause of the non-availability Q a reliable and quick method for its determination. Further, data for fixing a safe limit in the product meant for livestock feed wast9also not a~&Wble. However, it was a considered view of the committee for fixing this limit as early as possible. It is also proposed to fix a limit for alfyl&&lti~ya&rie in the product after assessing its safe limit.

0.5 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated,

IS : 1932 - 1986
