0. FOREWORD

0.1 This Indian Standard ( First Revision ) was adopted by the Indian Standards Mstitution on I5 DeGnb& l982, after the draft finalized by the Wool and Wool Products Sectional Committee had been approved by the Textile Division Council.

0.2 This standard ( Part IV ) has been revised in the light of the experience gained since its publication in the year 1976.

0.3 The plaiding cloth is generally a twill woven heavy fabric made of wool fibres or blends of wool with man-made fibres. Any weave other than twill weave may be accepted as agreed between the buyer and the seller.

0.4 A series of standards have been formulated on machinery fabrics, wool, Part I ,of which covers the general requirements and other parti- culars regarding marking, packaging, sampling and criteria for conformity of machinery fabrics.1

0.5 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test, shall be rounded off in accordance with IS : 2-1960*. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.

0.6 Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 1976 stipulates the use of Inter- national System of units in the country, in order to familiarize the industry with this system, the recommended SI Units for use in the textile industry are given in Appendix A.

1. SCOPE

1.1 This standard ( Part IV ) prescribes the manufacturing particulars and other requirements of plaiding cloth.

2. MANUFACTURING

3.1 The plaid+5 cloth shall conform to the requirements given in Table 2 in addltlon to complying with the stipulations laid down in IS : 7610 ( Part I )-1975*.

3.2 The plaiding cloth shall be tested for the various characteristics by the methods specified in IS : 7610 ( Part I )-1975*.
