“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run
and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
TOMORROW IS OUR FIRST SPIRIT GEAR DAY! September 11 is the first Spirit Gear Day of the school year! What is Spirit Gear? Any kind of shirt or sweatshirt that has our school’s name on it! It can be from a summer camp, the Shorewood Parade, an event, or one that you purchased. Students wear a Spirit Gear top with their uniform bottoms. A Spirit Gear Day is different from a dress-down day, so no jeans or other pants or skirts please. Usually, the first Friday of the month is a Spirit Gear Day. Occasionally there are some exceptions so be sure to look at the online calendar and the school newsletter for the most current information.
FINAL WALK-A-THON ORANGE SLIP DUE SEPT. 16
Trinity Christian School’s 2020 Walk-a-Thon is only two weeks away! The goal is to raise $65,000.00, and our students are busy getting pledges. Friday, Sept. 25, is going to be a fun day at Trinity, as our students walk to help raise money for their school! Please continue to PRAY and contact all of your family and friends to ASK in FAITH for donations.
The FINAL ORANGE slip is due Wednesday, Sept. 16, with your updated total. PLEASE NOTE that to be eligible for PRIZES your student MUST turn the final ORANGE slip by 3:30 p.m., Sept. 16. PLEASE remember to send it to school with your child to place in the classroom Walk-a-Thon box. The final YELLOW pledge sheet and money are due Friday, Oct. 2.
We are SO HAPPY to announce that there is still time for you to take advantage of our online donation option with First Giving. Thank you so much for your patience, as we finally conquered some technical challenges to get the TCS FirstGiving page set up for the Walk-a-Thon. The revised link is https://secure.frontstream.com/trinity-christian-school-walk-a-thon/.
In order to set up an account and TCS Walk-a-Thon fundraising page for your child, you need to:
Click on or visit the TCS link above Register at $0.00 (no fee) Create account as an Individual, not Team (you may donate while creating a profile or Leave blank) Once you register and have created you child’s personal TCS fundraising page, donations may
be made through that page, or through the TCS link above, by clicking on “Donate” and entering your child's name in the “Search” field.
This is a GREAT way for people to contribute to your student’s Walk-a-Thon efforts. The link is also helpful to share when requesting pledges from long-distance relatives via email, Facebook or other social medial. Keep up the good work and let’s reach our goal!!! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Toya Thomas, Special Events Coordinator, at 815-577-9310, ext. 54, or [email protected].
PLEASE WAIT FOR PRESCHOOL If you are one of the first cars in line for dismissal at the end of the day, please wait for preschool to finish their dismissal before pulling up to the building. You can tell they are finished when they close the doors to the main building. Thank you!

SON TIMES September 10, 2020 p. 2
Chapel Notes, by Austin V., Guest Contributor to the Son Times
Chapel Speaker: Mr. Jon Vugteveen
The theme of this year is “What is behind the mask? Overcoming my battles.”
Just like masks hiding our faces, there are things that are hidden in our hearts and minds that we struggle and battle with each and every day. This year we will be looking at a number of things like this and see how God’s word helps us to overcome these battles in our lives. Mr. V shared these three words for us to focus on this year: Prayer, Praise, Presence.
Songs: “Alive” by Hillsong Young and Free
“Yes I Will” by Vertical Worship
“Surrounded” by Michael W. Smith
Editor’s Note: Each week, a seventh grade student will contribute an article about the week’s chapel.
