General Comments from Members of the Survey Panel Each month, the survey panelists have the oppor-tunity to add comment (s) to further clarify the ac-tivity of their organization. As appropriate, the re-port includes comments selected for their insight. No attempt is made to ensure that the nature of thecomments represents the survey panel as a whole.

    1. Record setting Federal debt will harm economic recovery.

    2. As the weather stabilizes, we see our business picking up.

    3. We received several modest orders this month & are seeing continued strongquote activity.

    4. We offer services. With the down economy we have seen requests for some of our services decline while others have stayed about the same. We have cut back onspending but are still investing billions of dollars in new infrastructure

    5. "The pipeline is low, and it's starting to grow!"

    6. Overview of our business: 50% reduction in shipments from Sept. 2008. Reductionin work force [by more than a third] last month. Inventory down by 30% ...

    7. C&I lending activity continues to be slow. Small business lending is picking up aswe see new clients leaving less stable competitors.

    8. Not firing on all cylinders and not in record territory, but not experiencing downsidein the percentages indicated to me in some horror stories.

    9. Still very worried that Obama's enormous spending increases will harm the USeconomy.

10 . Tight commercial and residential markets holding back construction.
