1 The slot depth has been carefully adjusted to .028 in order to reduce the play in the slot increasing the precise tooth first order control, maximum effectiveness of torque and great rotational control. This will provide faster and better finishes of your cases.
2 The Bracket Widths are tooth-specific bracket sizes: wide teeth require wider brackets and narrow teeth require narrow brackets. This provides greater rotational control reducing the need for wire adjustments, faster and better finishes.
3 Clean and clear Visual cues in the frontal face of the bracket, 5 vertical and 6 horizontal references, will improve the bracket-to-tooth visualization for exceptionally accurate bracket placement and, consequently, less need for re-bonds and wire bends.
4 Reduced Profile Height results in less tooth-to-bracket impingement, maximum patient comfort, superb torque control and less occlusal interference.
5 The new Sliding Mechanism (Sure-Lok TM Clip) is a completely new external C type clip for reliable, smooth and consistent opening/closing. You will feel the audible click in the opening/closing and a second audible click in the total open position. This will provide an accurate stop at the open position for easier wire placement. The Sure-Lok TM Clip will also allow easy access for brushing and will substantially reduce calculus retention and binding.calculus retention and binding.
I am pleased to present the New Carriere SLX bracket, a team effort to create the most unique Passive Self-Ligating bracket in the world.

Incisal Edge
Deep Under-Cut Tie Wing
7 Fully Functional Tie Wings have ample space and deep undercuts. The use of elastic or metal ties will allow friction on demand and patient colour preferences at certain times of treatment. Those deep under-cut tie-wings are ideal to secure chain and ligature elastic or metal ties.
8 We have incorporated traditional fully-integrated hooks on demand. Those hooks are far less expensive and cannot be dropped or lost.
9 A completely New Etched Bonding Bracket Base with the new Adhesive Guard Rail Technology on the occlusal and gingival edges. These rails direct adhesive to the Mesial and Distal for faster, more predictable and easier cleanup.
10 Our New physiologically friendly Carriere Archwire Sequence for maximum tooth movement efficiency and patient comfort.
6 Direction of door opening/closing. The Carriere SLX sliding doors open towards the incisal edge/occlusal plane. In the lower arch this allows for easier access and eliminates gingival impingement.
The Carriere Wire Sequence is a maximum of 5-6 wires:

Achieving Complete Facial,Skeletal and Dental Harmony in Class II & Class IIItreatments. Facially Driven Orthodontics. WITH THE CARRIERE® MOTION™ APPLIANCE AND SELF LIGATING BRACKET SYSTEM
Orthodontics is a facial, skeletal and dental speciality. None of those three areas can be isolated in an Ortho treatment as all of them are in a complete interrelation.
The practitioner is responsible of the facial harmony of the face of the patient. Carriere Motion Appliance is a Sagital corrector that will work into the correction of our Class II and Class III cases in a minimally invasive approach for non extraction orthodontics. The use of the Carriere Motion Appliance as a non-extraction, predictable and minimally invasive distalization
approach for Class II and Class III malocclusions will be discussed. Aspects as principles developed by nature for optimization of material and force with elegance of forms will be
studied as well as the reduction of a design to an extreme for maximum function optimization. The result will be a nature-objectified design in the morphology of new innovative devices such as the Motion and the Carriere self-ligating bracket.
Dr. Carriere’s lecture will cover the rationale of their function and will present the protocol of their use, will also discuss the resolution of orthodontic space problems related to friction created, as well as clinical considerations of new technology wires in the achievement of biologic friendly action. The objective is to present a predictable and simple orthodontic method. The key is to achieve, as the very first step of the treatment, a Class One Platform of the posterior segments from molar to canine by distalizing them as a block into Class I Platform relation. From this point on, the treatment can be continued from the achieved Class I with a low force passive self-ligation fixed protocol. The newly designed Carriere SLX Self-Ligating Bracket System establishes a new standard in excellence and performance in a passive self-ligating bracket. Many of the newly designed innovations were clinician driven to provide us with clinical effectiveness and efficiency. In this presentation you will discover many of the innovative features of the Carriere SLX Bracket System. All designed to meet your ultimate goals in:
1) effective case management.2) optimal tooth positioning.3) meticulous case finishes.
3 LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Learn how to control distalization with predictability.2. Learn how to accomplish a solid class I posterior platform in Class II and Class III cases.3. Learn how to simplify and optimize the orthodontic procedure and at the same time reduce the treatment period.

After many years of development and innovation this year we presented the Carriere Class III Motion appliance at the 2015 AAO meeting in San Francisco. The appliance changes the relation in which the mandible interacts with the maxilla harmonizing soft tissues and balancing the face of the patient. The appliance results in a harmonious facial profile with a minimally invasive treatment of Class III cases. We have created a design that is very clean and simple. It is intended to treat Class III malocclusions without extractions, painful orthodontic surgery or traditionally uncomfortable and obtrusive facemasks. The Motion Class III changes the occlusal planes and intrudes the lower molars. It also extrudes the canines. This extrusion of canines and intrusion of molars are welcome in class III and necessary to change the occlusal plane bringing the mandible back into a better functional and
esthetic position. The change between the maxilla and the mandible in Class II and Class III cases is the main reason why today the appliance is called The Carriere “Motion” appliance. The Carriere Motion appliance will change the relation between the maxilla and the mandible. Therefore, in some part, changing the posterior occlusal planes brings it into a better functional position; while balancing the mandible and the maxilla helps to create Facial, Skeletal and Dental Harmony in our Class II and Class III cases. The practitioner is responsible for facially driven orthodontics for the patient. It is my goal as an orthodontist to be an expert in repositioning of teeth and bones in the correct position and balancing the patient’s profile.Patients 1-4 are examples of the Carriere Class III in “Motion”.

Case HighlightCLASS II DIVISION 2
Figure 7 Figure 8
INITIAL
Class II Division 2 occlusion characterized by a retrognathic mandible and excessive overbite presents as a challenge for orthodontic treatment. Some orthodontists argue that by simply correcting the angulation of the maxillary central incisors the mandible will posture forward automatically correcting the class II malocclusion. However, in my experience, this very rarely if at all ever happens. After correction of the maxillary incisor angulation, the patient’s occlusion becomes class II division 1 and the clinician now has to correct the underlying mandibular retrognathic skeletal relationship. Treatment with the Carriere® Motion™ in conjunction with a mandibular lingual arch allows for simultaneous improvement in the class II molar relationship with improvement in both the overbite and the angulation of the maxillary central incisors. INITIALPatient presents in the adult dentition with a Class II Division 2 malocclusion with excessive overbite and a
retrognathic mandible. Carriere Motion Appliance placed bilaterally on the upper 3 to 6 with a lingual arch with molar tubes and hooks on the lower 6s. Composite bite raisers were placed on the occlusal of the mandibular first molars to prevent the molar tubes from breaking off the bands of the lingual arch. Elastics were prescribed as indicated below.2 months F1 (6 oz ¼”)3 months F2 (8oz 3/16”)
POST CARRIERE MOTIONProgress photos show the Motion appliance on the day of removal which was followed immediately with full appliance bonding maxillary and mandibular 6-6. Note the improvement in overbite and the angulation of the maxillary central incisors.
FINAL Orthodontic wire sequence was followed to a standard protocol with Class II elastics prescribed intermittently throughout treatment. Total treatment time was 23 months.

INITIAL
Blocked-out maxillary canines impose a challenge to the orthodontist as they erupt into inadequate space. The option to extract a maxillary premolar to address this unfortunate situation could be eliminated with successful molar distalization. The Carriere® Motion™ Appliance is a suitable option to achieve this orthodontic objective, especially if used during the mixed dentition stage, and prior to the eruption of the maxillary second molars. The following case was treated with the Carriere Motion Appliance and a mandibular first molar bracket (with hook) bonded in conjunction with an Essix Retainer. The following steps and progress took place over 6 months:
INITIALThe Carriere Motion Appliance was bonded from teeth 14 to 16 and 23 to 26 respectively. Patient was 10 years 7 months at the time the Carriere Motion Appliance was bonded. The initial elastic protocol was full-time wear of 2.5 oz
1/4” elastics for the first month.
PROGRESSPatient was instructed to increase the strength of the elastics on the right side to 4.5 oz 1/4” elastics (5 months) to achieve further distalization of teeth 14 to 16. Class I canine relationship was achieved with the distalization of teeth 23 to 26. FINAL Effective elastics wear allowed for the creation of adequate space for the eruption of tooth 13 into the maxillary arch and the correction of the left canine relationship to class I. The results were obtained within 6 months, paving the way for a predictable phase II treatment for a class I crowded platform.

Case HighlightCLASS II CORRECTION IN A NON-GROWING FEMALE
The modern orthodontic practice is being asked to deliver more for our patients in less time than we ever have before. The Carriere® Motion™ appliance has been extremely effective in addressing this need for our practice. By initiating AP correction at the outset of treatment, when compliance is at its highest, we are able to provide excellent orthodontic outcomes while at the same time dramatically reducing the total time spent in full fixed appliances. Being able to deliver great results faster, allows us to command a higher fee for treatment, start more patients, and keeps smiles healthy by reducing cariogenic strain to the dentition.
Bilateral Class II malocclusion with deep overbite. Mandibular retrusion due to radiographically evident condylar resorption. Reduced width of attached gingiva in lower anterior. Excessive buccal corridors & consonant smile arc. Paranasal deficiency and deficient Lower Esthetic Contour™.
TREATMENT PLAN1. Transforce for arch development2. Bond lower braces and start Class II Motion appliance3. Transition to full fixed appliances4. Detail, Finish, Retain
TREATMENT MECHANICSMaxillary arch development was initiated at the outset of treatment to address the transverse deficiency and prevent the development of a crossbite during AP correction. A Transforce expander was utilized for 2.5mo to achieve the desired arch width. Following Transforce removal, a Class II Motion appliance and full lower braces were placed; 3/16 2oz elastics were started. At 6 weeks, elastics were increased to 1/4in 4oz upon inserting rectangular CuNiTi archwires in the lower arch. At 12 weeks, elastics were again increased to 1/4in 6oz and final archwires were inserted in the lower. A class I platform was achieved after 20 weeks with the motion appliance and upper fixed appliances were bonded to close spaces and reduce remaining overjet. To hold the AP correction, 1/4in 4oz elastics were worn to bed as needed. During space closure, reverse curve of spee mechanics we used in the lower arch to reduce overbite and treatment was completed in 20 months, with only 13 months in full fixed appliances. The lower arch was advanced without detrimental changes to lower gingival attachment.

Recommended Elastic Protocol when working with the Carriere® Motion™ ApplianceBy Dr. Luis Carrière
The Carriere Motion Appliance is designed to move teeth in a consolidated way to help you achieve a correct bite. With the proper wearing of rubber bands, this appliance will keep the patient from having to wear headgear or other bulky appliances later in the treatment.
The Carriere Motion Appliance is able to handle normal chewing of food and drink but, like all appliances, if proper care is not taken then the appliance may become detached from the teeth.

Staff TrainingRequired
Orthodontic staff can be quickly trained on placement of the appliance.
System requires extensive, detailed training; a course is recommended.
Patient Compliance Extremely high, because the appliance is used before bracketing,
when patients are eager to start their treatment. Not required
Appliance RequirementCan be used in cases that will be treated with a fixed appliance or
clear aligner system – no limitations. Can only be used for patients treated with fixed appliances.
Overall Treatment Time Reduces overall treatment time by 3 to 6 months. Does not affect the overall treatment time.
Clinical Efficiency 1 At the beginning of treatment, appliance transforms a Class II case into a Class I case making the overall case easier to treat.
Some efficiency due to the lack of patient compliance.
Clinical Efficiency 2If needed, rotation and uprighting of the maxillary 1st molars occur
automatically until they reach the correct position, without requiring intervention. Built-in stop prevents over rotation and over-uprighting.
If rotation of the molars are needed, other mechanics need to be performed.
Installation Time 6-7 minutes* 12-15 minutes*
Removal Time 2-3 minutes* 4-5 minutes*
* Time based on average clinical experience. Time may vary per clinician.

CARRIERE® MOTION™ CLASS III APPLIANCE
The Motion Class III Appliance is a minimally invasive appliance intended to treat Class III
malocclusions without extractions, painful orthognathic surgery, or traditionally uncomfortable
and obtrusive facemasks. The Motion Class III Appliance is as easy to place as a bracket or buccal
tube, and is designed to provide predictable results and create a harmonious, balanced profile,
all while preserving the patient’s natural features. The patient-friendly appliance is used at the
beginning of treatment, prior to braces or aligners, and delivers rapid Anterior-Posterior correction
to help reduce overall treatment times by several months. Intra-oral elastics connect the appliance
with maxillary anchorage to activate the mandibular posterior segment and to move it bodily as a
block for an ideal Class I malocclusion. Once the ideal platform is achieved, brackets or aligners
are then placed to finish the case.

The colour® SLX™ Bracket System Beats Damon® Q with 10 Essential Enhancements
*Upper Central BracketsAll trademarks or registered trademarks are owned by their respective companies.
“ADVANCING THE FUTURE OF ORTHODONTICS”
Features Damon Q Carriere SLX Performance Rationale/Objectives
1. Slot Depth .033”* .028”*
Reduced “play” in the slot of SLX Brackets SLX Brackets SLXimproves first order control, as well as torque and rotational control, for more precise tooth positioning and faster, better finishes
2. Bracket Widths
All the same width (.110)
Wide teeth, wide brackets; narrow teeth, narrow brackets
Tooth-specific bracket sizes improve rotational control, reducing the need for wire adjustments, and thus faster and better finishes
3. Visual Cues Very few5 vertical and6 horizontal references
Visual cues improve bracket-to-tooth visualization for more accurate bracket placement and less need for rebonds and wire bends
4. Profile Height Tall profile Low profile
Reduced profile height means less tooth-to-bracket impingement, and improved patient comfort
5.
Direction of Door Opening/Closing
Uppers towardsthe incisal edges, lowers towards the gingival
All open towards the incisal edge/occlusal plane
Doors on the lower arch open to the occlusalfor easier access and less gingival impingement, particularly on the lower posteriors
6. Slide Mechanism Internal spring External C type
Sure-Lok™ Clip allows easy access for brushing and thus smooth, reliable opening/closing, with less likelihood of calcification and binding
7. Tie-Wings Non-functionalAmple space and shape for elastic or metal ties
Fully-functional tie-wings allow for friction on demand and/or patient colour preferences
8. HooksExpensive, cumbersome drop-in hooks
Traditional fully- integrated hooks
Fully-integrated hooks are far less expensive and can’t be dropped or lost
9. Bonding Base Standard mesh Adhesive Guard
