My Communion Prayer

Dear God, I know that You give me many gifts.

The gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ in Holy Communion

is the greatest of all. How can I ever thank You

enough for this special gift?

As I become more like Him, please continue to

help me. Show me the places and ways that

I can bring Your love, kindness, and peace

to others....

in my family,

in my neighbourhood,

in my community,

with my friends.

Amen

First Holy Communion

The celebration of the Sacraments, Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation have always been a major

highlight in each families’ path of nurturing their child’s faith and participation in the Catholic Church. Yet

what must not be forgotten is the core component, the Mass, as it is within this celebration that our

Sacraments are generally received and acknowledged by the wider parish community. It generates for many

parents and families, happy memories of the major steps they took in their faith formation. Last Sunday the

Year 4 children celebrated their First Eucharist and hopefully it has brought back many happy memories of

your special celebrations of the Mass, which you can share with your child.

Eucharist is unique among the sacraments as it is at the heart of our faith. For Catholics, the Eucharist, or

Mass, is the most powerful way we encounter the real presence of Jesus Christ. Sunday after Sunday,

Catholics gather to celebrate the Eucharist, the ritual in which, by the power of the Holy Spirit, bread and

wine are transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ. The Eucharist allows for transformation, becoming

Christ’s presence to others, and recognising the presence of Christ in others.

Eucharist is an incredible gift and the amazing thing about the gift is that it can be unwrapped time and time

again in our lives and the lives of our children. Each new unwrapping gives us the opportunity to gain a better

understanding of what the gift actually is. For us, who have so many distractions in life, we might sometimes

forget about God, forget about the Eucharist, forget to pray and forget to attend Mass. The First Eucharist

celebration for a family member, can be a time of renewal for all family members, perhaps a time to unwrap

the gift again and discover an understanding that is truly relevant to where we are in life. Please continue to

pray for our children in Year 4 as they continue on their faith journey who are now fully able to celebrate in

the Mass. Fr John is looking forward to welcome you back for your Second Eucharist and your Tenth Eucharist

and your One Thousandth Eucharist as well.

Thank you to each of you as parents for continuing your child’s faith journey that began the day you brought

your child to the Church to be baptised. Thank you to each of the teachers, led ably by Jenny Lefebvre (RE

Leader) who have journeyed with your children and helped them prepare for First Holy Communion. We are

also blessed to have Fr John who makes connections so well for our children and is a true shepherd to his

flock. I pray that our New Communicants have had a very memorable experience celebrating their First

Eucharist last Sunday. Please continue to pray for these children as they continue to develop their faith

journey.

ELearning Vision

Sacred Heart Primary School aims to provide an environment that engages students through; personalised learning,

increasing collaboration and communication between school, students and parents, whilst preparing them with the

necessary skills to become active digital citizens in a global community.

What is a 1:1 Program?

A 1:1 (one device per one child) program provide students with dedicated portable device to use at home and school

to maximise opportunities for learning and collaboration between teachers, students and parents. It aims to engage

the digital generation by supporting individual learning experiences, and support focused and self-directed learning as

students become participants in a digital world.

1:1 is about learning not technology. Students need a curriculum that meets the demands of an increasingly globalised

With access to students own device they are able to work through problems and solutions at their own pace.

Sacred Heart Rationale for 1:1

The purpose of 1:1 learning is to develop student confidence, flexibility, and encourage self-directed, lifelong

learning. Learning can take place in an environment where students use individual digital devices to facilitate more

authentic, collaborative and project-based learning with increased student engagement and motivation to learn.

The Catholic Education Office supports the implementation of G Suite for Education in catholic schools. We have

investigated a range of devices to accommodate our 1:1 program and these Chromebooks have all of the requirements

necessary for a successful implementation. The Chromebook is a lightweight, portable device that will provide easy

access to the G Suite environment.
