The NPCA is a non-profit organization Dedicated to preserving and protecting America's national parks. They were founded in 1916 by the organic act. They uphold our national heritage by protecting our nations natural history.

What is the NPCA?National Parks Conservation Association

THEIR NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS IS IN WASHINGTON D.C.http://www.npca.org/where_we_work/

Where are they?

THEIR MISSIONTo identify and understand those park-specific and system-wide issues and threats that challenge both the immediate and long-term integrity of park resources. To foster and promote awareness of national park resource conditions within NPCA and among policy makers, the public, and the National Park Service.

To provide a credible and defensible basis upon which NPCA can organize constituencies and strategies to effectively address identified concerns and promote the National Park Service's capacity to contain or mitigate them. To help achieve positive, measurable change in the condition of resources in our national parks.

Inputs

The NPCA needs employees, vehicles, in some cases housing for employees that live in the parks full time. They need funding from various sources, govt., private donors, to pay for these things. They also need program leaders and scientists for the State of the Parks Program

PARKS

WHAT’S IN THE OUTPUT?

The output is 58 protected parks in the U.S. that are protected land.

Together these parks create a varied synthesis of accumulated American history

The process is the parks are maintained, protected and visited by people everyday.

Page 9: its time to help ppt. NPCA

The outcome of this organization is protected land. Ecological preservation of American history, and substantive forests that can live for another 9,000 years

OUTCOME

The State of the Parks ProgramNPCA initiated the State of the Parks® program in 2000 with the goal of developing the first complete, comprehensive, and informed understanding of resource conditions in our national parks.

In conducting a park assessment, State of the Parks researchers interview park staff, examine resource conditions on the ground with park rangers, consult with NPS experts, and analyze publications and documents in the park's library, from on-line sources, and from the scientific literature at large.

The resulting data are processed through a set of more than 200 questions and discrete metrics, which produce numerical scores for natural and cultural resource conditions.

In short they take their current information, accurately interpret the evidence and make reasonable evaluations.

Only unscrupulous people would intentionally pollute and destroy our water sources. The NPCA keeps their water sources clean.

If we do not protect our national parks then we risk losing some of the most amazing things we may ever see. We also risk losing part of our American heritage with those parks. They are filled with the history of 20,000 redwoods that have been around for thousands of years.

What’s the Need?

Page 18: its time to help ppt. NPCA
Page 19: its time to help ppt. NPCA

Waterfalls that pour from mountain walls. The creatures that roam the lands, some almost hunted to extinction. So much time, beauty, history and the promise of so much more is at risk. We need to protect these things before they are all gone forever.

Page 20: its time to help ppt. NPCA

We need this association to save our national parks from laws that would dissipate their existence.

They currently require money from government and private donors. Workers to maintain and run the park facilities. Scientists to evaluate and monitor the parks ecosystems. Park employees such as park rangers and others to keep up maintenance of the parks.

WHAT DOES CRITICAL ANYTHING HAVE TO DO WITH THISEverything

Page 23: its time to help ppt. NPCA

The NPCA solves problems that our parks face. Such as erosion, wild fires and the effects of climate change. They gather info through the park rangers that study the ecosystems within each park. With this information they can make good decisions about how to take better actions in the future.

Page 24: its time to help ppt. NPCA

This organization has to consider the impact they have on the nation and the people that visit these places. They understand the significance of what they are doing. The lasting effects of their mission could spread the breadth of time and history.

Page 25: its time to help ppt. NPCA

They must analyze their new information, reflect upon what information they have gotten before and to come to a reasonable outcome, they need to apply their logic and common sense to come to a justified clear results.

The Heartland Institute helps fund many nonprofit organizations, most being causes for nature preservation.I believe that the Heartland institute would be perfect for funding the NPCA

CONCLUSION

Page 29: its time to help ppt. NPCA

What Can We Do?

We can support laws that protect our national parks. We can volunteer our time to help conserve our unprotected wilderness, so that too can be here still in 200 years. We can stop polluting our air and water sources to slow global warming and slow the climate change that could destroy these beautiful parks.

Page 30: its time to help ppt. NPCA

We can appreciate mother nature and our world around us. Save it while we still can.
