TRANSCRIPT
When I first thought about starting this company I had a vision. My vision was that one day everyone would be a content creator. That was back in 2005 and a lot has changed. YouTube. Twitter. Facebook. iPhone. iPad. Our world has been transformed radically in a very short period of time. From students to grandparents, billions of people are finding their voice via the Internet. The vision is becoming a reality faster than I had ever imagined.
You are now part of a very special family. We are the pioneers fueling the democratization of information, entertainment, marketing and commerce. Our platforms fund the American dream for the next generation of artists, poets, film makers, photographers, thought leaders, comics, actors and musicians. What you do here will impact hundreds of thousands of people directly and influence the actions of millions more. We matter. You matter.
This is a huge opportunity. You are part owner in a company that has already changed the world and has a very bright future. Make the most of each day. Take pride in what you do. Above all remember that you will get out of this experience is what you put into it.
All The Best,

Ô TREAT ThE COMPANY As IF IT wERE YOUR OwN. bECAUsE IT Is.
We believe the only way to survive in our rapidly
changing world is to change ahead of it. Our
company is in a state of constant evolution and
reinvention. While we have been around for awhile,
we operate like a scrappy startup. In five years we have
developed five groundbreaking platforms and you
will likely be part of the sixth. Your time here will be
exciting, unpredictable and at times a bit crazy.
It is a symphony of controlled chaos - we invite you to
make some music with us.

startup
“Welcome aboard! Your captain and fellow crew members will make this flight most enjoyable for you. But please buckle up for some start-up turbulence and hang-on! Rest assured, your diligent efforts will be rewarded, as the skies look beautifully clear up ahead.”
- Luis Abreu
“If you’ve never worked for a startup, you might be accustomed
to having more structure in your day than you will find here. Be
proactive in seeking out work and goals from your team leader,
and afterward, seek out work that you want to improve for yourself
or work that will improve our existing products. ”
- Aimee Booth
“Just go with it”.- Carri Bright
Thoughts from the team
“Be prepared for chaos. The
company and space are ever
evolving and there are no rules.”
- Matt Hyser
“Work hard, play hard and enjoy the experience.”- Rhia Buenaventura
“Don’t say yes to try to impress us. We would much rather have an independent thinker than a yes-person.”
- Priscilla Payne
“Be grateful for the opportunity you have been given. This is going to be the job you love to come to in the morning.”
- Kate Biggs
You are surrounded by smart, creative, amazingly awesome people and you just landed an
opportunity to share an incredible journey with them. While the people that work here come
from various backgrounds, share different religious and political views, and possess diverse
personality traits we all share some core values that we believe are important.
These values should underscore your experience here, providing guidance on your voyage
and influencing your decisions along the way.
values
love (LV)
We are passionate about our work
and kind to those we work with.
We are respectful, express gratitude,
forgive others and help those in need.
teamwork (TW) We work together to solve
problems. We place the team above
ourselves and do what is best for the
collective good.
courage (CR)
We do what is right, regardless of
the consequences. We challenge the
conventional and don’t back down.
communication (CM)
We communicate with each
other and our community. We
listen to feedback and engage in
constructive dialog.
accountability (AC)
We are responsible for our actions.
We admit our mistakes, swallow our
pride and correct our shortcomings.
citizenship (CT)
We are good corporate citizens. We
are involved in our community and
contribute to the world around us.
fun (FN)
We work our tails off, but have a
good time doing it. We have fun,
embrace the laid back culture and
enjoy our jobs.
Our corporate culture is anything but corporate. There are no offices.
No dress code (just don’t come to work naked). No traditional
corporate hierarchy. We work and interact with each other more like a
family than a company. You can speak your mind to the CEO just like
you would speak your mind with your brother or sister. We are a flat,
open, fast moving and free-spirited organization.
Your “real” family is part of the IZEA
family too! We do our best to take care
of not only our team members, but
their spouses, children and chihuahuas.
I’ve worked at places where people would
completely ignore you if you said hello. It
makes a big difference that we feel like we are
all in this together, and at the end of the day,
we can all have a beer together, even if we need
the beer because of each other. ;)
- Aimee Booth
The best thing about working here is
seeing your friends every day. They
become your family since you spend
more time here than at home.
- Veronique Conus
You can expect to see, hear and experience some
pretty crazy things at IZEA. This place feels a bit
like home, so people act a bit like they do at home.
There will be pets, costumes, glow sticks, slow
claps, f-bombs, pranks, inappropriate comments
and generally awkward moments.
You might find yourself saying “did that just
happen.” Hell yes it did... and we love it. We want
our team members to embrace our unique culture
and add their own ingredients to our secret recipe.

CRAZIEST THING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN AT IZEA?
Not recommended!
At IZEA we value individuals that take
the bull by the horn and make things
happen. If you see something that can
be better go ahead and fix it. If you see
an area of opportunity chase it down.
Don’t wait for specific direction or a list
of tasks from your team leader, go out
there and Get Stuff Done (GSD).

SOCIAL
Our company eats, sleeps and breathes social media. It is the very foundation on which our company is built. We encourage you to blog, Facebook, Twitter and otherwise share your heart out. We want you to become a champion of our company. That said, we have some words of advice and expect you to represent IZEA in accordance with our core values.
MEDIA
THE GOLDEN RULE
T hink . Everything you say and do while
employed at IZEA is a reflection of yourself and the
company. Whether it is a public forum, a Facebook
post or even an email to a customer you should
consider it public and expect it will live on the
Internet forever. If what you are about to do gives
you pause, you may want to bounce it off another
team member or your team leader.
The Internet has no delete button.
You have the power to
fix any problem, in any
way, immediately that
costs less than $50 out of
pocket. If you need more
than $50 to solve an issue
please consult with your
team leader.
Ô bE AUThENTIC & TRANsPARENTUse your real name online and when appropriate your title with the company. If you are scared to post something as yourself you probably shouldn’t be posting it.
Ô CONsIDER YOUR AUDIENCEThe content you publish is likely being read by your fellow team members, IZEA clients as well as the media.
Ô sTAY POsITIVEYou should never engage in combative, accusatory or otherwise confrontational activity. It never turns out well. Leave the big issues for our executive team.
Ô REsPECT COPYRIGhTsGive people proper credit for their work, and make sure you have the right to use something with attribution before you publish.
YOU ARE
empowered
Each new team member that joins the company is assigned a Buddy. Your Buddy is responsible for showing you the ropes and is here as a resource when you have any questions. Your Buddy will meet with you once every two weeks during your first 90 days.
Once you are here for at least one year you can volunteer to be part of the Buddy mentor program.
BUDDY UP
Æ ExECUTIVE sPONsOR : DONNA MACKENZIE
We encourage ongoing education of our team members and provide resources for you to keep up to date with the latest trends and best practices. Each team member has a $250 budget for ongoing education that can be used to attend events, buy books and take classes designed to further your education. You don’t need any pre-approval for this. Just make sure it relates to your education and submit an expense report.
Want to go to a fancy conference or other event? Special grants for additional education may also be available. Ask your team leader about securing a bigger continuing education grant.
Q : What is better than a smart team member?
A : An even smarter team member.
smarty pants Ô LUNCh & LEARNs
Each month a Team Leader
will host a Lunch and Learn
(L&L) session on a different
topic. Lunch is provided by the
company, all you need to do is
show up and participate. Want
to host your own? Just let your
Team Leader know!
Ô AChIEVEMENTsIZEA marks the accomplishments of the group and the individual with Achievement stickers. These stickers are custom designed to commemorate events you are involved with at IZEA. You can expect to earn Achievements when we hit sales goals, launch new products and reach other company milestones. There is a list of standard achievements that all team members are eligible for. New achievements are added on an ongoing basis.
Totems are ceremonial wood planks
that are used to celebrate a team
member’s experience and contribution
to IZEA. All Totems start off as
unfinished wood and are decorated
and personalized by your Mentor. Your
mentor will present your Totem to you
at the first IZEAUp you attend.
