Applications are invited from interested eligible persons for appointment to the one post of Chairman & one post of Member, Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission. A copy of notice in this regard is enclosed herewith.

In terms of the provisions of Section 84(1) of the ElectriCity Act, 2003, The Chairman and the Member of the Delhi ElectriCity Regulatory Commission shall be persons of ability, integrity and standing who have adequate knowledge of, and have shown capacity in dealing with problems relating to engineering, finance, commerce, economiCS, law or management. The Chairman or member of the Commission shall not hold any other office.

In terms of provisions of Section 89(1) of the Electricity Act, 2003, the Chairman & member shall hold office for a term of 5 years from the date he joins the office, provided that he shall not i'icdd office as such after he has attained the age of 65 years or which ever is earlier.

NOTICE INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR THE POST OF CHAIRMAN AND ONE POST OF MEMBER, DELHI ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSION '

Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for the selection of the one post of Chairman and one post of Member of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission. These posts are in the pay scale of Rs.80,OOO/- (fixed).

Qualification :- The Chairman and the Member of the Delhi ElectriCity Regulatory Commission shall be persons of ability, integrity and standing who have adequate knowledge of, and have shown capacity in dealing with problems relating to engineering, finance, commerce, economics, law or management. The Chairman or member of the Commission shall not hold any other office.

The Term and Conditions of service of Chairman/Member:

(1) The Chairman/Member shall hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he/she enters upon his office or till he/she attains the age of 65 years whichever is earlier. The Chairman or Member in the Central Commission or the State Commission shall not be eligible for re-appointment in the same capacity as the Chairman or a Member in that CommisSion in which he had earlier held office.

(2) The Chairman/Member shall, before entering upon his office, make and subscribe to an oath of office and secrecy in such form and in such manner and before such authority as may be prescribed.

(3) The Chairman/Member may ­a) Relinquish his office by giving in writing to the Appropriate Government a

notice of not less than three months or b) Be removed from his office in accordance with the provisions of section 90

of the Electricity Act, 2003 (4) The Chairman/Member ceasing to hold office as such shall:

a) Not accept any commercial employment for a period of two years from the date he/she ceases to hold such office and

b) Not represent any person before the Central Commission or any State Commission in any manner.

(5) The salary, allowances and other terms and conditions of service shall be governed by Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (Salary, Allowances & other Conditions of Service of the Chairman & Members) Rules, 2001. The Chairman/Member shall receive a pay of Rupees Eighty Thousand (fixed) per month provided that in case a person appointed as the Chairman or a

Member is in receipt of any pension, the pay of such person shall be reducecl by the gross amount of pension drawn by him.

(6) Persons having financial or other interest which is likely to affect prejudicially his functions as a Chairman/Member of the Commission are not eligible.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the OHicial Gazette.

2. Dcfinitions.-In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires. ­

(a) .. Act" means the Delhi Electricity Reform Act, 2000 (Del h i Act 2 of 2001):

(b) words and expressions used herein and not defined bUl defined in the Act, shall have the meanings respectively assigned tothem in the Act.

9. 16. Relaxation of provision of rules in certain c:ases.-When the Governmcnt is satisfied thal operation of allY of lhese rules causes undue hardship in any pmlicular case, it may in the public intel'cst and for reasons to be recorded ill wriJing, relnx the
