The plan of action to ensure and enhance quality was chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year. The institution wishes to take up more career guidance programmes and approach various companies holding of campus interviews. The institution proposes to offer seed money to all the departments to conduct extension lectures/ workshops/ surveys etc. Proposals to conduct certificate courses and the seminars by different departments will be sent to the UGC, New Delhi. 1. Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution

Charging moderate fee this institution caters to the needs of students belonging to allvulnerable categories of the society. Students belonging to SC /ST /BC and listed minoritieswho are below the poverty line are provided with financial aid by way of scholarships.Endowment scholarships instituted by various philanthropists and old students are beingawarded every year as per the stipulated norms set by the respective trusts / individuals to theeligible students. (Annexure-1)

Field Trips:

Bio-Technology

A field trip was conducted for III B.Sc. students of Bio-Technology to Sangam Dairy,Vadlamudi, on July 13th 2005. Twenty Nine students accompanied by Sir N. Sarath ChandraNaidu and Mrs. G Sharmila Prasanthi visited the dairy. The students and the staff interactedwith the staff of the dairy and observed various activities at going on Sangam Dairyespecially the processing and production of Dairy products.

A field trip was conducted for III B.Sc. students of Bio-Technology to KCP Sugars andDistillers Vuyyuru, on 6th August, 2005. Twenty Nine students of final B.Sc. Bio-Technologyaccompanied by the lecturers Sir N Sarath Chandra Naidu and Sir M Ramana Reddy visitedthis place. They observed various activities of the factory that include industrial productionof ethyl alcohol, acetic acid, preparation of Bio-Fertilizers. They also visited the Sugarcane,Research Station at Vuyuru.

BotanyFrom 12th to 18th January, 2005 a Botanical Study Tour was conducted for Final B.Sc.students having Botany as one of their optional subjects. Thirty students participated in thetour. The tour was led by Sri. N.Sarath Chandra Naidu, Smt.M.Anupama and Miss.M.Sudha.During this tour they visited SIMS Park, Pasteur Institute at Coonoor. Govt.BotanicalGarden, Dodabetta.Tea estates at Ooty, Coutralum waterfalls and forest.

On 13-07-2005 a field trip was conducted for Third B.Sc. students of Botany to SangamDairy, Vadlamudi. Forty six students accompanied by N.Sarath Chandra Naidu andG.Sharmila Prasanthi visited the dairy. The students and the staff interacted with the staff ofthe dairy and observed the various activities that are going on especially these production ofdairy products, pasteurization of milk, etc.

On 10-10-2005 a Botanical Study Tour was conducted for Final B.Sc. having Botany as oneof their optional subjects. Thirty students participated in the tour. The .the tour was lead bySri. N.Sarath Chandra Naidu, and Miss.M.Sudha. During this tour they visited the followingplaces. Periyar Science And Technology Museum And Birla Plantorium at Chennai, SIMSpark, Pasteur Institute at Coonor, Govt Botanical Gardens, Dodabetta, Rose Garden at Ooty,BSI(Botanical Survey of India), Sugarcane Breeding Research Institute, Siruvani Waterfalls,near Combaitore, MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, Central Leather Research Instituteat Chennai. During the tour collected many plant species for their herbaria.

On 29-10-2005 3rd B.Sc. students collected local plants in JKC Nagar.Sri. SRK Prasad and Miss Sudha accompanied the students.

Microbiology

On 13th Aug, 2005 a field trip was conducted for III B.Sc. G-Section to Sangam Dairy,Vadlamudi, sixteen students were accompanied by Smt. M.Anupama andSri B. Siva Kishore. The students and the staff interacted with the staff of the Dairy andobserved the various activities that were going on in Sangam Dairy especially processing andproduction of dairy products, pasteurization of milk, etc.

Physics

The Department of Physics organized an Industrial Tour for III B.Sc. MPC students toVisakhapatnam from 14-10-2005 to 17-11-2005.

Part - B Days of importance were observed by different departments of U.G.& P.G.

involving the staff and students. (Refer Annexure-2)

Guest Lectures were arranged at U.G. &P.G. level inviting Resource Personsof Eminence from various fields. (Refer Annexure-3)

An emphasis was given on Communication Skills, Career Guidance, CampusInterviews and Community Service directly and also in coordination withNGOs.

3. Innovations in Curriculum Design and Transactions:

A format with 20 Questions was prepared to obtain feedback from academic peers, andstudents on curriculum development. The feedback was discussed thoroughly at departmentmeetings, staff council and a detailed report was submitted by the Principal to theManagement for the follow up.

5. Examination Reforms Implemented

Year end examinations are in practice for degree students. Monthly tests, Quarterly and Halfyearly exams were conducted and the progress cards were sent to the parents. Those whoscored low marks were identified and remedial classes were offered for better performancein the exams.

P.G. programmes have been continuing under Semester system. Examination Reforms wereimplemented in the college by conducting class tests, monthly tests, quarterly, half-yearly,and model examinations. Marks obtained by the students were displayed on notice boards ofthe respective departments and the students who were below average were offered remedialcoaching. To sum it up, CIE (Continuous Internal Evalution) has been made more responsiveto measure all the scholastic achievement of students.

Forests, Bio-diesel Plant, Immune System, Bio-Fertilizers, Mushroom Cultivation,Global Warming, Blood Grouping, Medicinal Plants around our College about onethousand students from our college and local colleges like Vignan, GVR and S,Bhashyam visited the exhibition. This exhibition drew accolades from the visitors.

National Cadet Corps

The authorized strength of college NCC unit for the training year 2005-2006 was 150 cadets.The girl students were enrolled through Govt. Polytechnic College for Women, Guntur, underopen system.

O/C T. Raghavendra Rao underwent pre-commission course at Officers’ Training Academy,Kamptee, Maharastra and was commissioned ANO.

JUO T. Naresh Babu, Sgt. M. Nagarjuna, L/Cpl Ch. Bhaskara Rao and L/Cpl M. Maheshparticipated in Army Attachment Camp held at Secunderabad from 17-11-2005 to 28-11-2005 Cpl. Ch. Srikanth acted as parade commander for the cadets of Guntur Group.

JUO K. Alagan participated in Special National Integration Camp held at Chakabama,Nagaland, from 28-11-2005 to 09-12-2005 Cpl M. Mahesh of our college participated in AllIndia Ocean to Sky Trekking Expedition Camp held in Goa from 10-12-2005 to 23-12-2005.Our NCC cadets organized Clean and Green Programme on 25-11-2005 at SwarnabharathiNagar.

The Literary Association

The literary association organized four literary meetings. Dr Shaik Moulali, Lecturer(Retired), TJPS College, Guntur, delivered a lecture on The Place of Premchand in HindiLiterature on 20-09-2005. Dr D.Prabhakara Sarma, Principal, Oriental College, Kovvuru,delivered a lecture on the Importance of Sanskrit on 30-11-2005. Dr Kandimalla SambasivaRao, Lecturer, DRN and SCVS College, Chilakaluripet, delivered a lecture on Origin andHistory of Telugu Drama. Dr.Jandhyala Jaya Krishna Bapuji delivered a lecture, TummalaKavitaa Vaibhavam on 16-9-2005. Ashtavadhanam of Sri Vaddiparthi Padmakar andKondapi Muralikrishna was organized on 07-12-2005. Sri Kolla Srikrishna Rao, Sri RavelaSambasiva Rao and Sri Duddela Pullaiah acted as pruchakas.

Extension Activities Wing

A Skin Camp was organized on 29-12-2005 with the help of Dr Rama Murthy. Twenty onestudents were examined.

The Blood Grouping of the students admitted during 2005-2006 was done during July andAugust, 2005.

A Beautician Course for girl students was organized during the months of October andNovember, 2005 with the assistance of Institute of Fashion Designing and Beauty Culture,Hyderabad.

A Blood Donation camp was organized on 20-12-2005. Fifty NSS Volunteers donated fiftyunits of blood.Identity Cards were issued to the students

National Service Scheme

The college has three NSS units with a strength of three hundred volunteers. A LeadershipTraining Camp was organized from 17-12-2005 to 26-12-2005. Students from thirty twoColleges attended the camp. A special camp was organized with our NSS volunteers from 7th

to 8th January, 2006 at our college. Our college adopted the Village ,Netaji Nagar. Fifty unitsof blood were donated by our NSS volunteers at the ANU camp.

A Special Camp was conducted at Acharya Nagarjuna University campus during Sankranthiholidays (05-01-2006 to 19-01-2006). One hundred and thirty five volunteers participated.A work worth of Rs 1 Lakh was done by the volunteers.

Clean and Green Programme was conducted during third Saturday of January, 2006

Sadvartana

Sadvartana organized a fifteen day course on Graphology from 05-09-2005 to 26-09-2005.Sri V. Hemachandar, graphologist trained 40 students. The Committee conducted anexhibition on Hand Writing Analysis of world famous personalities on 18-10-2005. TheCommittee also conducted a 6 day yoga course on Memory Improvement and Concentrationfrom 28-11-2005 to 02-12-2005. 128 students have participated in this programme. Sri P.Rangayya trained the students in praanayama, meditation and some yogasanas. YogacharyaSri KL Narasimha Rao delivered a special lecture to our college students on the valedictoryday.

Essay Writing, Quiz and Debating Association

Quiz:The Department of Mathematics organized a Quiz Competition to the students of B.Sc. on01-12-2005.

The team consisting of M.Ramakrishna Reddy of II B.Com., K.Motilal Naik of II B.A. andB. Muralidhar of II B.Sc. won the First Prize in Intercollegiate Quiz Competition conductedby Guntur Zilla Granthalaya Samstha on 22-11-2005. The same team won the Second Prizein Intercollegiate Quiz Competition conducted by Guntur Zilla Mahila Granthalayam.

Another team consisting of K. Nagarjuna of III B.Com., M. Ramakrishna Reddy ofII B.Com., and Venkata Vishnu Vallabh of I B.Com. won the First Place and RollingTrophy in Business Quiz and Markets Competitions conducted by Christhu Jayanthi JubileePG College, Guntur, on 20-12-2005. The same team won the First Prize in a State LevelQuiz Competition conducted by the Commerce Department of Andhra Loyola College,Vijayawada, on 7th and 8th December, 2005.

Eco-ClubThe Eco-Club maintains greenery in and around the college. The Club undertook tree plantation inJKC Nagar. The Club organized Energy Conservation Week from 14-12-2005 to 21-12-2005.During this week, the Club conducted elocution, essay writing and quiz competitions on EnergyConservation. The Chief-Guest on this occasion was Smt. Lakshmikantham, District RevenueOfficer, Guntur

Chandus’ Cricket Tournament:Our college organized Tenth Chandu’s Cricket Tournament for college Teachers of Andhra

Pradesh from 28-1-2005 to 31-1-2005. Eighteen teams participated in this tournament. Thewinners were Sir CR Reddy College, Eluru and AG & SGS College Vyyur.

The Department of Mathematics organized a Quiz Competition to the students of B.Sc.on 01-12-2005.

The team consisting of M.Ramakrishna Reddy of II B.Com., K.Motilal Naik of II B.A. andB. Muralidhar of II B.Sc. won the First Prize in Intercollegiate Quiz Competition conductedby Guntur Zilla Granthalaya Samstha on 22-11-2005. The same team won the Second Prizein Intercollegiate Quiz Competition conducted by Guntur Zilla Mahila Granthalayam.

Another team consisting of K. Nagarjuna of III B.Com., M. Ramakrishna Reddy ofII B.Com., and Venkata Vishnu Vallabh of I B.Com. won the First Place and RollingTrophy in Business Quiz and Markets Competitions conducted by Christhu Jayanthi JubileePG College, Guntur, on 20-12-2005.
