Key Domestic Policy Issues

Carter's tenture was a time of continuing inflation and economic turmoil couples with a growing fedeal deficit, which forced him to cancel military pay rasises. At the end of his administration, Carter had substantively reduced both unemployment and the deficit but had not been able to completely eliminate the recession

On January 7, 1980, Carter signed Law H.R. 5860, alson known as the Public Law 96-185 known as The Chrysler Corporation Loan Guarantee Act of 1979 bailing out the Chrysler. He led the plan to deregulate the airline industry and pursued civil service and social security reform. He took an all-important step in granting general amnesty to draft dodgers draft dodgers during the War in Vietnam.

In foreign affairs, Carter initiated the Camp David Records, the Panama Canal, and the second round of Strategic Arms limitation (SALT II)

Throughout his career, Carter strongly emphasized human rights. He returned the Panama Canal Zoneto Panama and faced criticism at home for ehat was widely seen as yet another signal of U.S. Weakness

The final year of his presidential tenure was marked by several major crises, including the 1979 takeover of the American embassy in Iran and holding of hostages by Iranian students, an unsuccessful rescue attempt of the hostages, serious fuel shortages, and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

“War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how

necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how

to live together in peace by killing each

other's children.”

Our thoughts on James E. Carter Jr.'s presidency were slightly negative due to the decisions he came across. On the other hand, he created some treaties with countries such as Panama and in the Middle East. He helped create the Department of Education in 1979 too. President Jimmy Carter had numerous foreign disputes, civil wars, and political transitions in recent years, including Panama, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, North Korea, Haiti, and Bosnia. If Carter ran for president today. He wouldn't be successful due to his decisions for our government.
