Dear Parents and Friends of James Monroe, With the first nine weeks of school rapidly coming to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to some of our students’ successes and to highlight some scheduled events for November. We are proud of our Yellow Jackets for many reasons. Fifty-three students were inducted into the National Honor Society in October. JAYEM A.M. has gotten off to a great start with an average of one hundred and eighty-five students taking advantage of the opportunity to receive enrichment, support, and remediation each day. Our student athletes have had successful fall sports seasons. During the last week of October, the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams will compete in the Confer- ence 27 Meet at Brentsville High School. The varsity field hockey team will advance to the Conference 23 Tournament which begins October 27. The var- sity football team will play their final regular season home game at Maury Sta- dium against the Courtland Cougars on November 7 at which time all Senior football players, cheerleaders, and band members will be recognized. The varsity football team will advance to Conference 27 playoffs which begin on November 14. These are but a few of our accomplishments, and it is only the beginning of November! First Term mid-term exams will conclude on October 31, and the first nine weeks grading period ends on November 3. The following day, November 4, is a teacher workday, and report cards will be issued on November 7 to all stu- dents. Parents are reminded of the next P.T.S.A. meeting which will be held on November 5 at 6:00 P.M. in the Lecture Hall. On November 13, we will hold our first Parent-Teacher Conferences from 3:00—5:00 P.M. Appointments are necessary and may be scheduled by calling 372-1100 and speaking to Mrs. Limberick, Mr. Jones, or Ms. Matthew. Please continue to remind your student of the importance of daily preparation, responsibility, and making the proper choices. We want to keep discipline re- ferrals at James Monroe High School to an all time low. Enjoy the information included in the November newsletter and have a won- derful fall holiday. School will be in session until 2:45 P.M. on Tuesday, No- vember 25 and will resume at 7:45 A.M. on Monday, December 1. “Senior LC King gives 100% at every practice. She stepped up as a leader in the off season to organize summer con-ditioning and schedules. Her hard work has paid off as she is tied for second in goals for the season with seven goals. She has started all six games and was voted captain by her teammates.” Coach Jamie Tierneyy.

“Outstanding leader of our offense, great leadership qualities. Jay is a three year starter and has served as captain for two years. In three games this season he has thrown 39 completions in 72 at-tempts for 612 yards and 4 TD’s. He leads the area in passing yards and has also rushed for one TD.” Coach Rich Serbay Coach Rich Serbay

“Stephanie Catlett in her first year of playing volleyball has already moved from the JV to Varsity team and been a strong addition to the defensive of the team.” Coach Shamus Gordon

“Connor Zins is a hard-working senior captain for the Boys’ Cross Country team. Connor is an excellent team leader who graciously and quietly helps the young runners on the team.
