Dear colleagues,

As we near the end of yet another year, it’s time for us to recap some noteworthy developments and recognitions that came our way at GVK this year.

The year 2016 has been quite remarkable for us as we achieved major industry accolades and crossed some significant milestones across various sectors that we operate in. Years of hard work and the untiring efforts of our team at Goindwal Sahib Thermal Power Plant in Punjab finally came to fruition with the commissioning of the plant in the month of April.

Both our airports have been doing really well and were lauded for providing world class experience to our travellers. GVK CSIA entered the league of big world airports as it handled 41.6 million passengers, six times more than what was estimated for MIAL for 2015-16. GVK KIAB clocked 100 million passengers in March in its eight years of operations and handled two million passengers in a single month at the end of November – the first since AOD. This is a milestone that no other airport in South India has achieved. Also, GVK KIAB was adjudged the ‘Best airport in South India’ and the ‘Emerging Cargo airport of the year’. This year, GVK CSIA was rated as the Best Airport in the world in its category. It also received the honour of being the first organization to be inducted in the ACREX Hall of Fame and was also adjudged the ‘Best Metro Airport’ among others.

Year after year, the honours that are bestowed upon GVK CSIA, be them for architecture, design, customer service or sustainability, are a testimony to our strong vision and a commitment to service quality.

Our other businesses including life sciences, realty, transportation and hospitality continue to make us proud by winning industry accolades. Our GVK ONE mall completed seven successful years of its operations. One of our most important social initiatives, GVK EMRI joined hands with the Sri Lankan government to launch a first-of-its-kind 1990 Emergency Ambulance Service that would further help strengthen the emergency care initiatives in that country. GVK EMRI continues to transform the Indian healthcare system by providing timely access with the help of First Responder Bikes, 181 Women Helpline and more such initiatives.

A noted American author once said, “The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” So we continue to propel ourselves to constantly raise our service and quality standards and remain committed towards developing world-class infrastructure projects for the benefit of our nation.
