Hoping the New Year is getting off to an excellent

start for everyone!

Our School & Faith Formation children have

returned from their holy holiday break and they are

back into their academic and spiritual routines – and

the majority (if not all) of our Winter Parishioners

have returned. Welcome Back!

Some early 2019 updates and info: Fr. Bill Sprigler

went back to Minnesota to check in with his doctors

and to see how things are going with his health. He

might be gone a month or so – but he still will

probably not be able to assist anymore at Resurrection

when he returns – but you never know. Remember to

lift him up in prayer.

On another note – we (Resurrection) will be

hosting a priest who is coming back to the Orlando

Diocese after serving in Central Florida for 6 years

and then returning to his religious community in

Canada to recuperate from surgery. Now he is ready

to come back to Florida sometime in February (plus he

can’t take the cold anymore up there) and we will have

him stay with us as he continues to get back on his feet

again. His name is Fr. Ronald “Fr. Ron” Mahon

(pronounced “May-Hon”). His is a Missionary of the

Precious Blood (C.PP.S.) whose mission it is to be

educators, health care providers, and spiritual

counselors. A little bio on him will be in next

weekend’s bulletin.

Bishop Noonan honors and blesses married couples in

Mass for Marriage, Feb. 9.

The Mass for Marriage is an annual celebration held

during National Marriage Week to highlight the sacrament

and vocation of marriage. Married couples, their families

and all who support marriage are invited to attend. The

Mass will be celebrated at the St. James Cathedral,

215 N. Orange Ave., Orlando on Saturday, February 9 at

10:00 a.m. with reception to follow. Limited free parking

available on the northwest corner of North Orange Avenue

and West Robinson Street.

Principal’s Principles

Our RCS faculty traditionally

returns to school from

winter break with a

spiritual retreat. We make

it a practice to start the

new year with renewed

purpose and guidance from God.

This year’s retreat focused on rolling

away the stones that block our

world. One statement made by the

retreat leader really resounded with

me and I have taken it to prayer.

She said, “we tend to focus on our

failings rather than our successes”. I

know I am very guilty of that

personally. So much of what I do

affects the lives of others, and I beat

myself up for the times something

didn’t go as planned. Don’t we all

do that? I could have 10 things that

go well, one that failed, and my

focus is on the failure not the

successes. This retreat filled me

with hope and gave me permission

to let go of the rocks that block my

way. If anyone else is stuck in that

quagmire with their rock, holding

them back, roll that rock away. It’s

ok to give it to the Lord.
